Hi Joan
Sorry you're having all this pain. Does it ease of in bed as well as when you sit down? It could well be coming from your back your scan should show this and you can get some proper treatment, maybe physio. If you have a place on your back that aches you could try some Ibuleve or Voltorol gel and see if it helps.

Hi Joan
In addition to Vonski's advice, have you tried a heat pad on the painful bits. It helps me considerably.
Hope you get it sorted, the scan should make things clearer.
Hi Vonski

Hi Joan
Did your Dr. book you in for your mri and if he did had he any ideas what it could be or offer any advice on exercises that might help or tell you not to do any until after your scan.
Sounds like it's getting you down now so please keep posting on here and keep us up to date.
Good luck with the scan.

Hi again Joan
Sounds like you and your sister like to keep busy. I've just bought a mobility scooter but still trying to get the hang of it, I've bumped into 2 displays whilst shopping  don't think anyone noticed My friend uses his to take the dog for a walk too.
Like Gill has said what about heat pads, I've used cura heat which seem to work well but must be worn over some clothing. Ice packs work too just depends which works best for you. Another trial and error thing.

Hi Joan
My husband has the same syptoms he is in a lot of pain when he stands and (tries ) to walk, but when he is sitting or in bed he is not as bad, in January he had a operation a spinal decompression because the nerves were getting trapped in the discs so they removed some bone to free it all up, the consultant says it has worked and it has eased some of the pins and needles and numbness, but to be honest he is worse now than before the op he is in a incredible amount of pain and can do very little now. He has never been diagnosed at all just given painkillers. At least I know that I have OA and am being treated for it.

Hello everyone.
I Have tried the hot and cold but i'm never sure which one to use.
i have not had pin's and needle's. the ache go's from my hip's and up my spine when bad. i put it down to age as we are 68 in august.
vonski enjoy your self on your scoota it get's me from a to b and back.i have heard a person say there are a lot of lazy people about today.in my town you can borrow a scoota to go around town as i do when it's to cold to go all the way from where i live. joan xxtake care

Hi
I have arthritis in my left hip and lower back.
I have pains in hips and legs almost every day. I find that whenever I move position it always hurts. If I sit or lay down it gets worse for the immediate 10-30 seconds or so and then reduces as time goes on. The most painful position is laying face down on the bed. I never sleep on my front because of the pain but often have to roll onto my front to get out of bed so there is no getting away from it.
I have been told that the pain I have in my legs is from the nerves being comepressed in my lower spine.0 -

Have you had blood test to check for inflammation such as ESR and CRP? A Doctor should be able to establish if you have RA
RA does not normally stop when you relax the muscles, infact it is often the reverse.0 -
Hello Philippaedmund's.
When i had a blood test the dr just said i was short of body salt's.
do you know how long you have to wait for the resuilt's of a scan.

Hi Joan,
I am sorry you have all this pain, I can't add to the good advice you have already had and I think Phillipa may have made a very good suggestion. Lack of salts may not be helping and I do hope it soon gets better for you.
I had to wait 18 weeks for my scan results but I think it varies from hospital to hospital but you'll be able to ask them when you go for the MRI.
Take care and I hope you have less pain, Cris0 -
Hi Cris.
Thank's i think it will help when i know what is wrong i have had the ache in my leg's for over eight year's and a lot of med the dr alway's said it's be cause of your problem's and age.
i have cerebral palsy.
i hope your pain is not to bad.

Hi Joan,
I guess the cerebral palsy may have some bearing but you age doesn't! Doctors like to blame all kinds of things when they don't know what is actually wrong.
The scan will certainly give a better idea do you know when its to be yet? I also think I read somewhere the results are usually through in 3-6 weeks but our hospital is overstretched and bankrupt so they don't have enough people hence the wait.
My pain is is fairly constant but bearable and I do ask for it! Hey hows your dog? Take care, Cris x0 -
Hi Cris.
My scan is on the 22 of june.
my dog is well my sister's dog is 14 year's old in nov.how old is your's.

Hi Joan,
Mine are 16, 14, 12(ish but could be older), 9 and 3. The oldest is a spaniel and the youngest a spaniel x collie x demon! and it's getting very near the time for the spaniel and the lab sadly.
I have oa and a ? on some kind of rheumatoid but nothing is confirmed on that one yet. I also got a 4 other 'conditions' but again 2 are confirmed and 2 are shelved and may never be sorted/ diagnosed..... the joys of a bad hospital eh?!
I'm glad you haven't got long to wait for the scan and hope that it will give some answers.
Take care, Cris x0 -
Hi Cris.
The ache in my leg's used to go when i sat down now it's in my hip's and the ache is all the time will it get worse i'm not on any med as nothing work's any more that is why i've been booked for the scan.last week because of being so fed up with it i got some glucosamine and c and ginger. joan xxtake care
