Three for luck

Have just got back from my appointment with my lovely Rheumy consultant so much so, I have come back after having three Corticosteroids. He really must have enjoyed himself.
He thinks, and is pretty sure that I have Carpul Tunnel in my left wrist. As I have had this tingling and numbness now for over 8 months have they only just started taking it seriously? the pain has spread right up to my shoulder now. 1st Injection.
Right elbow and arm. Tennis Elbow. This is the 3rd corticosteroid in this elbow. Hopefully, eventually the pain will die down, if I don't paint.
Left Hip: Bursitis. I've had this for nearly 2 years now, and walking, climbing or coming down stairs aggrevates it. This is the 3rd injection I have had in my hip. It will help for awhile.
So quite an eventful morning but at least some action.
At last my consultant has realised why I have been in so much pain, and the flare up from my neck hasn't helped either.
I was given a new drug last Thursday at the Pain Clinic called Clonazepam, and told to stop using the 20 mg Morphine Patches, but slowly and I would get a prescription for 10 mg. ones. But I never got a prescription.
So I took the patch off for the last time on Saturday night, but didn't take the new med.
Ask my consultant about what I should do and he said to start it on Tues. The morphine should be out of my system by then. Just goes to show. If I had started the new drug immediately on Saturday aftercollecting I could have overdosed.
I think I can see a light at the end of the tunnel now. How about that for a pun!!!! :P :P

You have had quite a morning!! I hope you get some relief after all those injections. That really would be great!

Snap! I've just had my left had operated on. I had the steriod injections and they worked for a while, which confirmed the diagnosis and then sent me to a very nice Italian Plastic Surgeon, who operated. Still in stiches though!!
May need the other done and also the Ulnar, but this may help the other to settle. The op was fine. I went to the day ward at 2.30, got ready and walked to the theatre, the op took about half an hour. The injections to numb my hands was the only painful part. Unril the injections wore off. Then had tea and buscuits and home. Bit like the dentist, but not so paindful! So if they decide to operate, go for it, is my advice.

Hi Sue
Thanks for your posting. Do hope everything goes fine for you.
At least your got tea and biscuits.
This is the 2nd phase I have had with my elbow. The first one, when I was in my 20s lasted 3 years at least. This time though, it started almost a year ago now and this is the 3rd injection. Just hope it works. Trouble is, I probably aggrevate it with my painting.
All the best and hope you getting plenty of TLC whilst you are recuperating.

Hi folks
Gosh, it must be the affects of having all injections at the same time, but I cannot keep awake. Have just slept for 2 hours.
I thought steriods made you hiper.
When I was working, I use to go back to work after having these. What a mistake. With the bursitis, that is very sore, and is aggrevated when going up stairs. Very anxious to try and get walking but never know just how far to go. Don't know if anyone else has this problem. I've had this for at least 2 years and thought it would go away, but it doesn't
I'll take on board waiting for a day or so before painting. Unfortunately, I have a commission to get done and an exhibition to get ready. Have most of my paintings ready for Sept but feel that some of them may not be good enough.

Hi Joy
I've only just caught up with this. You really have been through the mill, haven't you? All those injections at once !! Sorry to hear that you can't paint for a while, but hopefully you will be able to resume soon. I hope the injections work to reduce your pain.

Hope you are OK yourself and coping with the cold weather. I just cannot keep warm myself.
had really bad night. May be because I had slept quite a bit after the injections in the afternoon. May be because I was beginning to have withdrawal symptoms from taking the morphine patches off on Sat.
Consultant had told me to start the Clonasepam Tonight, but took half a tablet last night.
Have to rest another 24 hours, keep a log as to how both armsand hands respond and email him tomorrow. He will have some idea if the injection (s) have worked. If I am still getting the shootingpains and numbness in my hand then he will arrange for some more tests and then, possible arrange operation, which I believe is not too bad, but inconvenient. Obviously, both the right arm and my hip are a bit tender today.
My consultant had the rough notes from the Pain Clinic Consultant who I saw on Thursday, but hasn't had letter from him yet. Quite funny really, he said that he couldn't read his writing. Fancy a dr saying that.
Anyway, I think this will be the only posting I will do today. tryand rest my hands - follow orders

Well from 2 p.m. yesterday, I just couldn't keep my eyes open.
I think I still had some morphine in my system and because of the bad night before decided to take my first Clonazepam at 3 a.m. the night before. Well I think it caught up with me yesterday p.m.
Then I had to do my MTX injection and plus a couple of Co-codamols.
I just couldn't keep my eyes open. Tea time came and I had to take my second Pregabilin of the day plus my two blood pressure tablets.
Well after popping all those pills, I was trying to watch Springwatch, because I love it and kept missing bits because I was just nodding off. In the end, my OH told me to just go and shower and get to bed. The shower seemed to wake me up somewhat so I thought I would just do a Sudoku. I thought that my earlier naps would stop me getting a good night again.
Wrong. Apparently, I was propped up in bed with all my cushions round me to make me comfy and my OH said that he found me asleep with my hand and pencil poised and holding the book, which he had to take out of my hand when he came up to bed later.
Now I am wondering if I should be taking both the Pregabilin and the Clonazepam. The Clonazepam was prescribed by the Pain clinic the other day to help me sleep with my arms being so painful. Since seeing the Consultantg and haveing had the steroid injections, which have helped with the pain do I need it.
Anyway, have sent emails to my consultant asking the question. Does anyone else get confused with all the swopping about with medication, because I know that I do.
It was a lovely nights sleep though.

Dear Sue
When you had the initial steriod injections, did they take away the numbness and tingling in your fingers. I don't know if I am being impatient, but I am still getting those sensations. In fact I was cutting the loaf this morning and cut my numb finger and never felt a thing until I saw the blood and realised what I had done. Do you think this numbness will go away?
