i have had the worst couple of weeks ever, in so much pain was diagnosed with RA in March then hospitalised in May for a while which seemed to get it under control but i had 2 steroid injections which may have been the reason i felt better. been on Methtx 10mg for 6 weeks now and take diclofenac daily although the inflammatory levels in my blood are getting higher and the swelling in my fingers and other body parts is not going down. Does anyone know more about the crp levels in your blood, doc says normal persons is 5 and mine is 79? Also seems ive become a bit anemic following a blood test... is all of this normal as my gp and rhumy just dont seem to be able to do anything to help? Surely my meds would be making it better by now... also feeling quite dizzy and spaced out often, anyone have the same? im really scared its never going to end and i feel like just giving up as no-one understands. my boyfriend is pretty much fed up of me crying all the time but i just cant help it! Please help someone.... sorry for the essay x

    Hi Kezzard,

I think it takes a bit of time to get what is best and for it to work so hang in there. If you are anemic you will not feel too good either so be kind to your self and I am sure someone who knows more about this will be along in a min. A ((( ))) to you and take care, Cris

Just to let you know that I am thinking of you love. I can`t help with information, but there are so many lovely, knowledgeable people on here who can, and will.

Have you tried the Helpline at the top of the page?

    Much love...Ange.

    Hi Kezzard

Sorry to see you are feeling so low, horrid and weepy. Being anaemic probably does not help at all. You are young and it is a lot to take on board and you appear not to have had much let up in the past few months. All I can suggest is keep banging on your gp's door and perhaps get a second opinion from another rheumy if you have no faith in the one you are seeing at the moment. Your boyf will be going through a difficult time at the mo as well, not knowing quite what to do/say for the best. Why not, as others have suggested, give the helpline a call. Nothing lost doing that is there? No worries if you become tearful on the phone, they are well used to that and wait patiently for you to calm down. Give it a whirl.

    Luv
    Elna x

Hello, I have OA, so I don't know the answer, but just to say that people take a while with any drug, to find the best one for you. Also if you'r anieamic, that could be making you feel down, it has done when I've had it in the past. Hope you soon get sorted and begin to feel better.. LoveSue

Hi, I've not read the replies, so sorry if I repeat anything. I also have RA, was diagnosed in October.
I think you need to give mtx around 12 weeks to work.
It is normal to be anaemic when you have RA - it is something to do with the chemical processes that are related to the inflammation, though also can be caused by bleeding in the tummy fom too many NSAIDs so make sure they prescribe you something like omeprazole to protect your stomach. Try to have vitamin C rich foods with iron rich foods. Orange juice with steak and broccoli! I deinitely get the dizzy spaced out thing and I'm very anemic.
CRP (c-reactive protien) is literally a marker of how much inflammation is in your body. I think on my first doctors appointment reguarding pain in my joints mine was 25, and within the month was over 100!!! The steroid injections didn't help me much, but they may help you.
What dose of diclofenac are you on? Is it possible you could increase it?
Hold tight, hopefully the mtx will work soon and if not there are plenty more things you can try - most of them you have to have tried mtx already. . . so even if it is that you only take it so you're allowed to try other things, there is a point!
I totally see where your comign from when you say nobody understands, and I think I bore my boyfriend with the crying too. Sometimes from pain, other times just because I feel depressed and see no hope. But it is fairly common, and I think once it is under control we will learn to live with it. Because we are both new to it we've not found the right medication yet, but when we do, it will calm down and we'll start to feel normal again.
    Feel better soon.

I'm not on MTX because I am still breastfeeding. My son is 13 months and I hope to wean him asap so I can start. I tried sulfasalazine and hydroxychloroquine but they didn't do much and I reacted to one of them (not sure which!).
I'm not working, when I have some treatment sorted out I will make some decisions about that, but I can barely cope with the baby, I just don't think I could hold down a job at the moment. . . or pay for childcare!
I have been on oral steroids for a while which really helped LOADS, but they were prescribed for the reaction I had to other meds and you can't stay on them too long, so I am reducing the dose each week and almost off them completely.

This is a link to a video about a treatment that sounds amazing. . . my hand therapist spoke to a rheumy nurse who says it's already available in Spain and should be here next year! Gives me real hope.

Hi Kezzad,So sorry you are feeling so down at the moment. :( I have OA and RA and have had some quite severe flare ups recently.I havn't had steroid injections but I have been taking 40 mg steroid tablets daily and that has helped the pain immensely.Although at the moment my Gp is weaning me off them gradually.I can't help with the blood test as I am still waiting for my first appointment with the rheumy on June 24th.I am sure there will be other members who will have more helpful info for you.Thinking of you, take care,Breane.x :)

    Hi Kezzed

I hope you are beginning to feel a bit or even, we hope, major better. Pity about some 'pi..k ' butting in and trying to get your money. You don't need that. There is never any miracle juice out there.

Anyway, just wanted to come in and wish you well and hope the sunshine is making your feel ok
    all the best
