    Hello Nellie43

From what you have described it does sound like it is the nerves that are causing the different sensations of pain and numbness. When people have worn facet joints they sometimes tilt a lilltte and press on certain nerves to cause different sesations depending on which nerve it is. I'm so glad that your doctor has been able to give you medication that has enabled you to get some sleep as I'm sure lack of sleep makes everything feel so much worse.

    Hi Nellie

I can't really say if this is normal or not as everyones' experience is different. It sounds as though this numbness is causing you distress, so it may be worth stressing this to your doctor so that he/she can refer you to the relevant specialist. Have you considered asking for a referal to a pain clininc? They are specialists in pain management and should be able to explain what is going on in more detail that we can.

Try and enjoy the sunshine today if you can where ever you are.

    best wishes
