Start with an apology as this is one for the ladies only.
Bit personal this but I hardly ever wear a bra. Now I am a big lady 40D in that department. I get so much back ache & boob ache. So I was wondering about wearing one more often. One of the reasons I don't is its so fiddly & I can't stand anything 'tight' if you see what I mean. What do you do?? I'm getting a few cotton ones to see how I get on...(do you sleep in one)? Many thanks - Mxx

hi, i'm also quite big, well 40f, so erm big! i find buying one a bit bigger round helps, i get a 42 as it's not so tight, also find the easiest was to put on, as my arms are stiff and achy, i do it up first then put ,my arms in! i can't go without wire but another thing to try if it is fiddley is a vest type top with secret support, i'll have to see wheres best to buy but basically they are like a normal west butt with eleastic type stuff thet offer some support.
you will find your chest and back more sore without as boobs get heavy!!!!
i hope that helps a bit

hi, well I am loathe to admit that I am a 42dd, I used to wear front fastening bras, but having a carer now I like to wear lacy things, have you tried under-wired ones? I don't wear a bra in bed as I feel more comfy without one, love Jaspercatxx

hi,ive not got the big boob problem, but have costochrondritis(inflammation in the rib cage)so wearing a bra causes me pain.i suffer with mastightus type pains(sore boobs)
i do wear underwire as im only small, but i cant wait to get out of it by the evening.
ive tried sports vests/bras but the seem so tight & pull me in(all i need)
i have got some great tops, not need to wear bra with, they have built in support(wired)about £5 each from QS.
i find the sports type vests so hard to get on as have problems with shoulders & getting dressed in normal clothes is a big problem.
so us little uns suffer as well

Hi, I'm finding bras increasingly difficult, I'm 38b, and the sports bras that go over the head are too tight for my hands and I can't raise my arms enough as the shoulders hurt. I don't mind going without at home but have to wear a bra when I go out or I feel naked  . I think I'll have to try the frount fastening type. That sounds much more practical. When I worked with very disabled neuro paitents, a lot of whom were young, clothes were a terrible problem. Dressing and undressing caused so much pain and discomfort and yet a lot of our ladies refused to wear comfortable clothes. Good for them but bad for us  :D

you need a bra! it's really bad for your back. You should go and get properly measured. somewhere like M&S so you have the right back size and it's not uncomfortable. The sales assistant will know all the bra's they stock, so you can describe your needs and she'll find the most suitable thing for you.
I am still breastfeeding, and my bra size ranges throughout the day depending on when I last fed. But without milk I am a smaller lady. I still wear a maternity/nursing bra some days. I always do it round my waist fist (witht he slasp at the front) then turn it ound and pull it up. It's getting the b*gger off that I have trouble with!!!

I can totally relate to refusing to wear comfortable clothes! I'm 22, just because I have arthritis I shouldn't have to suddenly start wearing some sort of tent, even if it is really easy to put on. I wear the same 'stylish' fitted stuff I used to, it just takes 3 times longer to get dressed! I even try to wear heals sometimes! ALWAYS regret it!

I fasten my bra around my waist at the front and then spin it round to the back and put my arms in the straps and lift it onto my shoulders.

I've only ever slept in my bra when I've had a row with my husband and no-one's around to help me undress - but then I slept in my other clothes too 'cos no way would I ask him for a hand when I'm in a strop :x  :lol:

    Hi
You arnt doing yourself any favours by not wearing a bra its sooo bad for your posture, go to M &S and get fitted for one, fasten it up and swivel it round, depending where arthur is shoulders hurt putting it on, but its easier than trying to fasten the damm thing at the back. Dont wear it in bed if your not used to it you will probably end up throwing it in the bin if you sleep in it. If you dont wear them at all at the moment I wouldnt even try a underwired one they can be very uncomfortable if you are not used to it.

You MUST get fitted for a bra and start wearing them. Your clothes look so much better as well as helping your posture.

I used to be a 34JJ cup before I had a breast reduction (it cured my back problems and my asthma) and I had to get "specialist" bras that cost £36 each. Now I'm a 34c, not small but a lot smaller than I used to be! At least I can buy my bras at the supermarket now!

I'm still fanatical about women wearing correctly fitting bras. I tell all my friends off if they're wearing the wrong size and I forced my mum into M&S for a fitting after years of wearing a bra so big she might as well as not have been wearing one!

At the moment I can't wear a bra, because having a hand out of action makes it impossible! The stiches come out on Tuesday, and I will go definatly go back to the bra. Not only does it improve the way I look, but its much more comfortable I'm 38b. I do mine up around the waist and pull it up, but undoing it at night is the big pain as my shoulders are stiff. I think I'm definatly going for a front fastening one. Theres a notice up at my gym saying how importand having the right sized bra is, and they have a bin for old bras to send to poor countries. Some people give away some really nice ones, it sometimes looks a bit tempting! :D Mousy, I'd go for cotton with a little bit of a stretch, as they are comfortable, don't be tempted by too much lace, I find some of that scratchy and if you'r not used to bras, it could be off-putting. Hi

Marisota/ Simply Yours (you can go on line) do a wonderful range of front fastening and normal type bras for the larger lady. I am 46D at the moment unfortunately and I was getting so fed up with not getting a ood comfortable type of bra so when I started looking the range by Marisota and Simply Yours, part of Homeshopping, I found some good ones and they go up to plenty of larger sizes that you cannot buy in the high street. The think I like about them is that they are comfortable at the back with good support.

The only time I ever wore a bra at night was when I was pregnant at 23 I am now nearly 65.

    Hope you get sorte

    Hi

Sloggi used to do cotton crop top bras but not sure what size they went up to or if they still do them. I like the top crop ones though.

Thank you all so much. I am now on Day2 of wearing the wretched thing (I'm wearing it during the day to see how I go). Have to say it is helping a bit and it seems to be pulling me more 'upright'. I'm taking up the suggestions of front loaders (thank you) and getting a couple of cotton ones. I've sort of gotten into the habit of not wearing one as I am at home (I do wear one when I go out - don't want to scare the horses). Just such a simple thing to do - never thought it would make that much difference.
    Thank you

    Hi,
I am 34FF and can't get away without a bra. I find it realy important due to being more voluptuous and due to costochondritis to get fitted for a good bra. I go to bravissimo where they don't use tape measures and suggest the type and size of bra that will suit you. I told my fitter about my PA and how it affects me and she chose some good options for me. When my costochondritis flares up I wear a vest top with hidden support (soft elastic type "shelf" inside it) instead of a bra as it's comfier. I hope you get sorted out! KT

Im a 30F and couldnt live without a bra. I buy Panache ones off Ebay (new with tags intact of course). They start at £27 rrp which is pricey so I get them from ebay companies for about £6-9 inc p+p. Sometimes cheaper. Especially if you buy dark colours in Summer and light colours in Winter (buy out of season is the key).

M+S are rubbish for big boobed women. They look sexy and feel nice but dont last half as long and make your tummy and boobs fall into each other as Gok would say .....as a product from a company like Panache, Freya, Fantasy or Ballet who are specialised in bras for D cup and above.

One bra of mine is 7 months old and it has loads of life in it and worn lots. Much better value for money.

    Hi there
I have a problem actually trying to find my boobs  but I do still wear a bra during the day as even 32B's head south if left unsupported. I did buy a bra for my mother recently . She has OA shoulders and neck and is a size 38F. It came from a company called ample bosom, I bought it on line and it is front fastening and has wide shoulder straps and is made of a softish material. Think it was £26. She said it is the most comfortable bra she has ever worn.
    Hope this helps

oh i know how you feel, i went upto a j cup after i had my 1st daughter, ouch that hurt my shoulders, i was offered a reduction but thought i'd wait for my body to settle first, i kind of regret not saying yes now, after all bra in bigger sizes do tend to be more money.

I hardly ever wear one, I dont suffer from back ache, but my shoulders ache with the straps so if I do wear one occasionally I get the strapless ones from simply be or bravissimo, cost a bit but fit good and keep these 44E's (I would call em puppies but more like rottweilers) lol up, I cannot fasten em, and have to get mum or sis or her kids to fasten em. The little lad knew how to fasten and unfasten bras at the age of 3, lol.

    hi
well another biggish lady here---38d or 40c depending on make and style. i have also been having problems of late , suffering terrible pain across top of my back, gone are the days of putting on a bra in the morning and not even realising i was wearing it.
i have never been able to get on with underwires either and only yesterday out with a friend got into conversation with another lady and we were both saying how losing a couple of bags of sugar weight wise ) seemed very appealing .
i have been thinking of trying "sloggii " so if any of you out there have any experience of this make i'd be interested to hear,
best wishes to all buxom ladies :):)
