Hi all
I hope everyone is having a relatively pain free day.
I was wondering if anyone is taking any supplements and if you think they help?
I take glucosamine and chronidition, cod liver oil and omega 3.
I don't know if they help but they surely carn't do any harm.

Hi Heather
i have only been diagnosed with RA a couple off months so havent tryed any off these yet. did ask rhumy about glucosamine as my friends mum takes it for OA and says it helps but rhumy said it wont do anything for RA, but then think he is a bit useless anyway.
I read somewhere that cutting out red meet may help so am tring that at mo. i think omega 3 is good for RA. what kind of arthur do you have?
as long as it doesnt cost to much and its safe i think its all worth a try you never know.0 -

I think you always have to check with your Rheumy nurse re supplements in case they stop the medication working properly.
I have had the all clear on Rose Hip, Turmeric and Gluco..& Omega 3
I also put some Black Cherry Drops (all from Holland & Barrett) in some water for when I swallow my tablets.
All these items are either antioxidants and the Rose Hip helps with the anti inflammatory thing aswell. Havebeen on the regime for about 3 weeks now. Do I feel better. I think you have to take these things for a long time before you can tell.
It's hard to say but it is jolly heavy on your finances. I shall not wait until winter to pick the Rose Hip Berries and make a Rose Hip Syrup or jelly. Suggest you log into Holland & Barrett andlook up the items. Then you can make up your own mind. I was told
Gluco & Omega 3 was more for Osteoarthritis, Don' forget to check out first

Hi
I took glucosamine for about six months and then I ran out and didn't get any more as I didn't feel they were doing any good, but I might go back to it, as maybe it was doing good with the overall condition, I have OA, I don't know if it helps RA or if it interfers with your medicaton but if your rummy has given the OK you should be fine. I hope you find some benifit. Love Sue0 -
I have taken Glucosomine and Chondroitin for three years now, and whilst I don`t think it improved what I already had, I do believe that it stopped things from getting worse. In other words, prevention but not cure. When I had my TKR two years ago - at 65 - I made a really quick recovery with no pain whatsoever. I can`t know for sure if G & C helped, but they won`t have done any harm. I take the full quota of 1500 mgs of Glucosomine, and 1200 mgs of Chondroitin daily. I also take Omega 3, and Multivitamins.
Also, you may be interested to know that I order mine online from a highly reputable company in the Channel Isles, at much lower prices than the High St. The company is called Simply Supplements, and all P & P is free. They do a very comprehensive range of all supplements..........Ange.0 -
I take the cod liver oil and glucosamine - I mentioned it to my Doctor as I have OA and he agreed it was good to take them. I notice I haven't been so stiff first thing in the morning.
Also, now taking apple cider vinegar and honey in water twice a day before meals as somebody said this can help.0
