Hi there everyone, hope you are all not too bad pain wise today! I have noticed that currently there is nothing set up in the manchester area for young people with arthritis in terms of support or social gatherings. With the help of arthritis care i am looking to start a group particularly for young people, although anyone is welcome, as the most difficult thing i have found since being diagnosed is feeling like you are the only one at a young age.
I am 22 with chronic RA and know that it would really help me to seek out others in the area that are going through the same things i am. This will be a group based around support, so we can have good chats/moans about aches and pains and find out how each of us cope and share tips on how to get on with day to day life which i know is hard on anyone let alone younger people who want to go out and socialise, have to continue with school/college/uni or are just stepping out into the world of work like me.
It will also be a chance to have some fun! It will really be about us and what we want to do. This could mean popping out for a drink (not necessarily alcoholic!) Doing activities (that we are all capable of) or even getting in pros to each us how to exercise (even a few games on the wii perhaps!)
Please let me know if you live in the area and are interested in what i am doing, even if it doesnt sound like your cuppa tea let me know why and suggest what you would like in terms of support or social gatherings for people in similar circumstances.
Thanks to you all, i appreciate your support and hopefully we can get something started following your feedback.
xx

Hey! How are you today. hope your not in too much pain? I'm 22 and I suffer with RA also. I would be great to have a natter and a moan with someone who knows exactly what I'm talking about and at the same age! The only thing is I live in Hull which according to Google map is about 2hours Drive away. I'm not sure how advance my RA is really, on a good day I can walk with a slight limp on a a bad day I can be bent over double with pain nearly!
If you are still interested in getting this support group up and running let me know!!!
Thanks

So sorry to hear you are suffering too. I actually have a date arranged for our first meeting in manchester now, Thursday 6th August. I understand you live quite a time away but if you would like to come and join us that would be great!i think it is important to meet with others that have the same problems so it would be lovely to meet you. let me know if you are still interested or able to make it and i will give you more details.
Thanks
