What do you do when you can't sleep?

Here we go again, another disturbed night.
I slept alright last night, but took another half tablet of Clonazepam 0.5 mg and evenwhen I first went up to bed at 10 00 p.m. my legs would hardly move. I felt as if they were about to give way. I had a good long shower and sort of massaged my legs with the hot and then cold power shower bit of our new shower. It helped the other day, but not tonight.
I think I will have to get hold my consultant by phone tomorrow and tell him how these things are affecting me.
The other things that seem to be coming back are the pains in my arms, especially the shooting pains and that is what these tablets are for. Does this mean that the injections I had the other day were all for nothing because my hip is really hurting again also.
Nearly 2 30 a.m. Oh please let me sleep.

Hi Joyful,Sorry to hear you are having bad nights. Before I started on the steroids I was awake most nights, the pain and stiffness just wouldn't let me sleep even though I was so tired.I found by getting up and moving about did help a bit but the nights were so long.Everyone else asleep and you wide awake.I used to sit with my nintendo DS just to pass the time!Have you tried a sleeping tablet.I was given one for four nights and that also helped, although I didn't want to be on them permanately.I would have another word with your Gp or rheumy as you need decent sleep just to cope with the next day.Take care. Hello,
Not sleeping is horrible isn't it? Makes you feel that you are the onl person in the world who's awake. No helpful suggestions, I sorry, just sympathy. Love Sue0 -
Hi Joy I am awake during the night on a regular basis with pain in one joint or another. Luckily we have a really comfy couch so I have blankets ready, painkillers and the remote control handy. Watching trash on tv in the middle of the night always makes me drowsy and at least I get a couple of hours sleep. I just accept that this is another lovely little side effect of arthur!0
