I have just been told that my inflammatory arthritis has caused cervical spondylosis   I have been in the most unbearable pain I have ever experienced and lost most of the movement in my neck. I been given mst (slow release morphine), robaxin, tramadol and amitriptyline, which is helping things to settle down. He has faxed the consultant requesting an urgent appt. Does anyone else have any experiences of this? What can I expect? I can't believe how quickly this has come on. Any thoughts appreciated.

Deb

I have suffered with the same problem for over 20 years...when medication, oesteo, physio did not work I went along to a Mc Timoney chiropractor (private) and in time found relief for the first time. Worked for me :)

Hello I have OA in my neck with a compressed nerve. Mine is painful and causes pins and needle in my hands and loss of some movement. Some days are much better than others. You sound a lot worse than me. I have tramadol and amytriptlne. You sound as if you are really having a bad time of it. I hope the patches make a difference and take some of the pain away. You need to have the pillows just about the width of your shoulder, I was told, I've got a memory foam one which suits me. You really need to see an occupational therapist and physio to get the right help for you.

Hope you find what you need to be more comfortable. Love Sue

    Hi Deb,

I am so sorry you have been told that you have spondylosis. I really hope your appointment comes through very quick as it will mean you can ask all the questions you probably have and also see what can be done to help the pain. Mine is helped now by the pain clinic and I may see if they will make the deserving permanent, they did talk about it a while ago and well hang in there as how you are now isn't how you will stay. A ((( ))) and you take care and they will have a better idea once the Rumo see's you. x

Thank you all so much for your replies. It helps to know I am not alone. I have to say I am so glad I have found this forum, it is such a help. :D I am feeling a bit better today, and am keeping positive. It will be interesting to see what rheumy says. I never knew how much you used your neck!!!! I could hardly sip a cup of tea it was so painful and stiff  Thankfully I have slightly more movement today. I admire all of you have battled with this for a long time.

    Thinking of you

hi deb,i too have spond.i would think because of the lack of movement you will need some physiotherapy, there you will be given exercises to follow.i have to do mine each day as ive lost a lot of movement in my neck & its not come back.
my 1st lot of physio he did manipulation of my neck, tens machine & massage that gave me some movement back.
2nd physio at hospital wouldnt touch me just gave me the exercises & advice.Try to get the height of your pillow right as ive found this helps.take your meds to the max, rest when u need to,thats what the physio advised me.
    i take zomorph,oramorph,ibuprofen,cocodomol 30/500 & 50mg amptripyline at night.
waiting to see pain clinic as the meds r hopeless.
hope you get some releif from it soon.debsx
