General advise needed

Hi,
When I last visited the GP I asked if I can be referred to a pain clinic which she refused until the Rheumatologist has seen me to assess the level of help I may need.
The problem is my lower back, legs and feet are more affected than my hands, although they're getting there, so walking is becoming VERY painful. At home I have a crutch which was given to my wife when she damaged he ankle tendon, anyway I use it at home but am not comfortable out and about with it, I'm not sure if it's vanity or embarassment or just not really knowing the correct way to use it.
I use it on the opposite side to pain and walk with it at same time as affected leg moves into position, however, it is not long before I need to stop and swap as the other side starts to pain me.
Does anyone have adivise on what I can do to relieve the stress as I am always out on my feet from 8-4pm daily
Thank you
Alan

Not sure Alan, but would it be easier for you with 2 crutches for support? Also is the crutch you are using at the moment, fitted to the correct height for you? There are notches in them aren't there to change the height of it? You have probably done that already, but just a thought. They can be hired from the Red Cross......
Best wishes
