    Hi there

Thank you for the positive post - I think views on this drug vary from regions and specialists.
I've been on 2oomg 2x a day for several years - and would be lost without it. Before I've been on many drugs, NSAIDS and DMARDS and have found Celebrex most effective and much easier of the tum (which was a life saver for me)!
So I'm glad not all docs have listened to the hype although I do know of some who have been taken off drug I suppose it is dependent on individual and postcode lol

Before I was put on DMARDS which have thankfully worked very well, I was in quite a bit of pain and non of the regular NSAIDs worked for me.

My GP put me on celebrex 200mg twice daily and as others have said, it was a wonder drug and completely got rid of any pain and swelling. I was warned that it had some increased risk of heart attack and stroke, but because I was young and relatively fit it was deemed an acceptable risk.

I think the risk is estimated at 3-4x increased risk of stroke or cardiovascular event, however there is apparently a lot of investigation going on at the moment about whether or not there is an increased risk for NSAIDs as a whole class of drugs. I guess you will have to speak with your doctor about the risk v benefit! I was on it for almost 2 years and was fine :D

    hi,
just popped in for a quick look before ncis, i have o/a and celebrex is the only anti inflamm that has helped me at all , and i tried a fair few :):)
i was taken off it for a few months when a lot of hype about side effects in the press but i soon noticed the differance , felt like i was falling to bits !!
have always taken 2x 100mg but just this week went to gp, as so tired and waking through night in pain and dose has been increased to 2 in morning and 1at night, and was told can go to 2 twice a day, but thought i'd save that in case things get worse :( :
i also take paracetamol and tramadol for the pain , amitriptylin to help sleep, and in the hope it helps glucosamine and omega 3 fish oils.
