Hello everyone,

Hope you are all having a good day

I have inflammatory arthritis which is pretty well controlled with dmards and nsaids. However I seem to have developed a new problem. I suffer from hip bursitis which has been a issue on and off for over a year, but now have low back pain that only seems to cause problems in the night. In particular I wake up in the morning with a lot of pain and stiffness. Once this has settled down it does not really cause any problems during the day. I have some hip pain after sitting for a while or when driving, but if I keep moving it seems better, it is very strange!

Does anyone suffer with this or have any advice :?:

    HelloFranki
Good to meet you and welcome to the forum from me!
Yes I get low bcak pain too - but then again I have had it for a verry long time!
I find sleeping on my side (can you do that?) with a pillow between my knees really helpful. If I'm on may back a little something in the small of my back helps too.
Wonder if the bursitis is making you walk unevenly in the day and putting pressure on your back?
Might be worth a chat with the rheumy next time you go?
    Take care

    Hi Franki

I think it is as Toni says and your hip is making your back go out of line a bit. Mine is the other way round, my back has aggravated my hips and those now have early on set in them and now are aggravating the back in return.

I think its a very good idea to talk to your Rumo next time you see them, cus to me to know what is making it hurt helps me. If you end up sleeping on your back it maybe thats why you wake stiff? I can't do that without kicking it off but I know have trouble sleeping on the right hip and the left one is beginning to moan a bit so I may see if Toni's idea of a pillow helps me to..... Thanks Toni.

Take care and hope you find some relief, Cris

    Thanks for your replies.
I will try your suggestions and see how things go.
I was due to see my Rheumy this month but the appointment got cancelled, so I am now waiting for a new appointment :(
Last time I saw him he wanted to inject the bursa, but I wimped out - I really regret that decision

Hello, I have OA in my lumber spine and I find a flatish pillow under my thighs helps me, but it takes a bit of giggling around to get the right place! Love Sue

    Hi
I was diagnosed with inflammatory arthritis a few months back. I am not sure which type yet.
I know exactly how you feel as I have it in my left hip, back and on wednesday found out I need a partial knee replacement in my left knee (which I guess I have there too, which I was unaware of!).
I tend to have the problems down the left side of my body which is quite odd and not sure if this is a common problem.

Which referance to your question I developed the arthritis in a different oreder. I got pain in my lower back before my hips.
I can understand the pain you are in as mine has got so worse I no longer work before 11-12 in the morning as I am unalbe to function!
I work as a personal trainer so the arthritis can hold me back quite a lot. I dont let it get me down and try to work around it as mich as I can.
I think as soon as it starts ruling your life it starts ruling you as a person! (hope that makes sense)

Keep your chin up and keep well!
