Whilst at the conference 'Medicine and Me' a woman in the audience mentioned Mynocycline (I think that was the name). She said it gave her no side effects and was working for her. She also said she had travelled to the US to access this therapy. Are you out there? Or has anyone else got any experience of this drug? Its an anti biotic, apparently, used in the treatment of skin problems initially and is classed as a DMARD.

Hi, Just tried googling it and it came back as a broad spectrum antibiotic. Isn't there some research going on at the moment using antibiotics? I'm sure I read something somewhere.

The trouble with the internet is that there is so much information, some rubbish, some good, and it takes ages to sort through. I usually end up being side tracked, then don't have the time to look for what I really want to know...

I think that may have been one of the drugs my son had prescribed for very severe acne a long time ago.

Yes but think of the drug thalidamide which is now being used to treat end stage cancer, liver or kidney, I can't remember now.

Sometimes new treatments are found for old drugs. No harm in looking it up? :) Who needs doctors when they've got us!!

    Hi
I posted a topic Antibiotic therapy in RA a few weeks ago. I read an article on the web about tetracyclines in RA specifically minocycline and doxycycline. There is a group called Road back foundation in the US with info on this topic http://www.roadback.org/. They say they have had success although it could take a year to work. I spoke to my Rheumy and he dismissed it, but he does not support any alternate treatment. I think anything is worth trying especially since this site has success stories. Vijay
