Hi Sharon,
Hey GOOD LUCK and I hope it all goes really well for you. You come back and tell us how it went and fingers crossed in a couple of months you'll be pain free and well on the way to being your old self. Cris x0 -
Hi Sharon,
That's correct, you get your priorities right
When I had my TKRs nobody mentioned sex and I must say it wasn't at the forefront of my mind at the time, although I was 42, so a similar age to you.
I should imagine hips are different because of the movement of your legs, hips and pelvis. It would be best to take care of your new hip and I'm sure you'll be able to make up for any abstinence later  if that's what has to happen. Ask at the hospital, in front of your husband so he can hear the answer too and then he'll know you're not pulling a fast one.
Hope it all goes well.

Hi Sharon
Good luck.
I had my THR 2 weeks ago and each day gets better. I've found that I can only do what my body is allowing me to do, so no fear of overdoing it.
As for the sex thing, I was given loads of info from my hospital and was surprised that it said I could resume that side as soon as I felt able. The surprise coming from the fact that you need to be very careful for 6 to 12 weeks as you can dislocate your new hip while it's all healing.
To tell you the truth it's the last thing on my mind at the moment.
Take care hope it all goes well for you as it has for me.

Hi Sharon,
Good luck for tomorrow.
I think the six weeks abstain from sex is advised by most surgeons. It is to avoid the risk of dislocation and also advice is to be the "passive" partner initially. have to say I wasn't ready for jumping from the chandeliers (even if we had any) before six weeks. I'm 9 weeks post op and much more confident about not disclocating and pain free so everything is better! O/H said it was been worth waiting for!
I'm sure all will go well and you will soon be home, however remind hubby that you will need a lot of help and he will be too tired to think of sex.

Hi,
Just wanted to say good luck for tomorrow, and to a speedy recovery. I am three months post op now and it gets better each day. Though I found the first six weeks tough enough. But you will be back on your feet in now time.0 -
Hi
I hope everything goes well for you, and look forward to seeing you back here afterwards.
I was told that I could resume sex as soon as I felt ready to, but to be careful not to bend my knee and break the 90 degree angle rule. I was a bit worried about dislocation the first time, but all was ok. ( at about 4 weeks I think  )
In general take things at your own pace, rest, do the exercises and listen to your body. If you ever want to chat pm me.x

Hi Sharon
Good Luck with the op tomorrow, I am hopefully having mine in August. Ask hubby if he would prefer to have you dislocate your hip while having sex earlier (probably not) I know that I will not risk dislocation just for the sake of pleasing my other half. Just get yourself fit then think about the sex side when you are ready.
Take care

Ha!If only I could manage it now! I have my THR in July and my prime motivation is to get back to the good old days with my partner as it has been too painful for ages.Better get that jab done soon!!!!!
