Thumb op.

Hi everyone!!
I have OA on toes (one operated on) and one knee and now in my thumbs - one worse than the other. There's no gap bet. bones to allow a needle in for a cortisone injection so it's been suggested I have surgery.
The bone will be removed, pins inserted and removed after 6 weeks, during which time scar tissue develops where the bone was.
I'm interested to know what the results would be like as I don't know anyone else who has had this procedure - I realise everyone's different.
Any comments welcome.
Regards, Pheebs

ohhh Gosh, I haven't heard of that. Mabe someone else on here has had it done. I expect it sounds worse than it is! Mind you, I've just had my carpel tunnel released. That was painless when they did the op but sore when it came round!
You'll have to let us know, if you have it done.

Hi Pheebs,
I haven't had my thumb done but did have this done to my feet a few years ago and they have worked very well. I don't know if it is the same thing but if it is it works well. Good luck and keep us posted. Cris x0 -

Thanks Chris. I had one toe done 4 yrs ago but it was slightly different - pin was left in and the joint fused. It has made a difference and I never wore high heels anyway!!!
I'll let you know what happens.
