X-Ray moan

I am waiting for my x-ray results on my left ankle with a possible OA diagnosis to follow. I have been chasing for a week now as the x-ray department told me they should be at the doctors in a week. It is now 2 and still no sign. How long should i wait for these results? i do keep chasing.
i have also been back to the doctors today as the pain is so bad. i have had a bad week and have had to come off my painkillers so that i can drive. doc has prescribed my naproxen to try and i have to ring back late next week to let him know how i am getting on. If this doesn't help then he mentioned having to refer to orthopoeds. Now that seems to me that he is assuming that i definielty have OA and not this other thing that they suggested - Plantar something or other.
just finding that i am aching all over these days and seem to be pulling all my muscles, presumably because i am walking differently. at least the doctor has also advised me to strap it which is an improvement on the last appointment.
anyway - moan over
hope you are all doing well

Hi Crafty
Sorry you are having so much trouble at the minute. If your x rays aren't there by next year I would be asking where they've gone.
I hope you have been given something to protect you stomach with the naproxen. They normally do but if not ask for some just to be safe.
Did you mean plantar fasciitis? That can be very painful, it can be eased by in soles. When I had it I had shoes made with special in soles and that really helped. Ugly shoes though but my feet measured 14 ins circumference so couldn't find any to fit.

Hi, I'm sorry you've got all these problems with your x-rays etc. Hosptals seem to find the whole idea of communication between departments difficult to understand! I've had problems over information between departments. I hope you can get something sorted and the pain relief they've given you works.
If I were you, I'd askyour GP for the x-rays and any tests to be re-done. Just to know you're having the correct medication etc.
Hope all is sorted for you quickly, Love Sue0 -
Hi Crafty
X-rays often take about two weeks, but your doctor's should be able to chase it up for you. I had plantar fasciitis, but it made my heel painful, rather than my ankle. I also get pain in my right ankle, but when I had it X-rayed, it didn't show any OA. MY doctor still thinks I have got OA in it, as he says it doesn't always show up on X-rays. I saw a consultant, but he said it wasn't bad enough for surgery. The pain is quite bad sometimes though, and it causes me to limp. I got an ankle support from Boots which does help.

Hi just a funny story really. When I went to plastics to see about my carpel tunnel for the first time, they had an emergency in the treatment room and my consultant was late. He came in flustered and said 'you're the lady with ra' I told him it was oa and he looked at his notes and apologised then he asked about my neck pain, so I told him what the Rheummy said and that I' d had a MRI he looked at his computer screen for ages, got cross with it, banged all sorts of keys and said 'Its not their, they've lost it!' the nurse gave me a long suffering look and came round, pressed a few keys and up came the report. He was really shocked and told me he dosn't trust computers and writes his notes down. All very good natured. Mind you he was a rather nice looking Italian....

i haven't been given anything for my stomach at the moment. This is really just a trial to see if i can manage them and they won't upset my asthma. I have to report back to the doctors on Friday to let him know how I am getting on. not much in the way of pain relief yet. Think I may need to up the dose.
Just about to try the doctors again to see if those results have turned up yet.

Hello,I found that neproxen have worked wonders for me but I do take paracetomols too, at least 6 a day every day not only when I have pain as they build up the effect.
I was prescribed a tummy one too to take alongside them, omeprazole.
hope you get sorted soon

Spoke to doctors again. Results still not in and they chased again. they are now supposed to be faxing the results through. Maybe we will have something definite soon. Struggling with the pain though and finding it difficult to cope now.

When i had both my ankles x rayed it took them about 2 weeks to get the results. Couldnt detect the oa on them so they sent me to the hospital thought i had a bone infection and i had a bone scan. Took me 2 months to get the results back from that.0
