Hi im just looking for some advice i currently take methotrexate on a monday but i am going to a festival next weekend and wanted to take it on the friday for that week instead i wondered if anyone else had taken theirs on different day 1 week. ONly reason thinking of this is that i am always better on the tuesday after taking this on the monday but by the sunday pretty rubbish again. Was not sure whether i could then take it again monday after or would be best to then take it on friday each week after that.Any advise from anyone who has changed med dates would be great. Thanks

Hi Nic
It probably is best to run it through your GP but my views on it are that it probably depends on how much mxt you are taking as it becomes more toxic as you increase the dose. It also remains in your system for a while, hence it is only taken once/wk (It is used in higher doses to kill cancer cells) So if you are on a low dose you probably have a bit of play BUT you should not then take your next dose on the Monday but your usual week later , so on fridays from then on.
It would however be sensible to give your GP a ring to see if they have any reason for you not to do this.
Hope you really enjoy the festival

Hi, I have been told by my Rheumy nurse that you can change the day you take Mxt, but you must keep to the new date, you have to take Mxt 7 days apart only, you should check it out with your Rheumy nurse or local chemist to make sure, hope this helps love Jaspercatxx0
