Hiya Guys and Gals,
Went for my first das score yesturday it was 7.9.
My confusion comes from my rheumy nurse who said out of 29 joints 25 were swollen but she was concern that my crp had come down to 21 from 88 ?
She has got me worried I would not quailify if my crp is low? but I don't understand why this would matter as I am on oral steriods to keep my crp down?
Should I come off steriods to prove that without them I am unable to move?
Any advise? as I really do need to start humira as I have failed on 2 dmards
Thanks Bubbsie x

Hi Bubbsie,
I, personally, wouldn't come off the steroids just to raise your CRP as they should be aware that it's these that are keeping you going at the moment. Your nurse has also said that your joints are still swollen even though you're taking steroids so that surely shows you need some other medication to reduce the inflammation. :?
If you're worried why don't you ring the nurse and talk things over with her and she should be able to put your mind at rest.
Take care.

Your CRP is still above 10 which implies inflammation so I wouldn't worry. I had to come off steroids as I couldn't tolerate the side effects. I was on 60mg a day!! If you don't have to come off them for a medical reason I wouldn't put yourself through the pain of withdrawal and the inevitable flare. Your rhuemy and nurse should know what the numbers mean in the context of your meds. Good luck.0
