You ask a simple question!!!!!
I've been trying to find a welfare rights worker to help me fill out ESA forms. After having a lovely chat with the helpline lady from arthritis care I then rang my local council.....who hadn't a clue!
No one knew what I was talking about?! Why is it?!?
I got passed from education to switchboard back to education dept then given another number which didn't work then (now getting fed up) I got through to someone who at least wanted to put the effort in to figure it out.
Finally told to ring CAB, which I'd already tried to do but I have never got through. Tomorrow I'm going to the drop in service to see if that has any joy.
At least I'm glad I've got my health! HaHa

I've worked for the civil service and believe me, it's not personal, they are like that in every dept that I dealt with. It drove me mad. I'm afraid that you have to keep trying. However, when you find that person who is human and knows what's going on, take their name and number. They are rare but do exist. I found that I was very thorough in the beginning because I had been trained in the private sector but I have to admit that the system wears you down and it is hard to keep trying to do what is right when ppl around you don't appear to care. Keep calm and charm them. It is very difficult for them to be off with you unless you let them. If they feel like they've really helped someone you will have made their day as well. I'm a firm believer in please and thank you and you can always pull faces and scream when the phone goes down!!
Good luck and let us know how you get on.0 -
