Hi
I've been having a bit of trouble from my scar this week. One end, near the wrist became very red and painful and started to swell a little. Then after a day, I became a bit feverish, around 100 f and so I saw the duty doc. He looked at it and examined it and said that it wasn't infected, but it was very inflamed. He told me to put loads of E45 on it as the skin was cracking, and take an antiinflam, which I'm not supposed to have, but he said 1 a day would be OK for a few days. Today its much less painful and the skin is a bit red and peeling very slightly I feel much better in myself too. He also made me promise to rest it more, said I had done too much with my hands. Its very hard though, I didn't tell him I'd tried to knit!  Anyway I'm being quite good but bored! :? Still I'm lucky it wasn't infected, MRSA was going round in my head :!: Just thought I'd share the experience.

    Hi Sue,

I'm glad you saw the duty doctor as it could have been infected. Opp scares can take a very long time to settle........ My back one took a good 18 months. Now thankfully its all white but enormous! Even the stitch holes! What makes you think I have a problem with it?!:lol:

You take care and DON'T knit for a bit! Luv Cris x

hi I wasn't sure I should go, but after a night hardly sleeping because it hurt if the beclothes touched it. I thought it needed checking, I wondered if the doc would think I was making a fuss, but I was lucky, the duty GP was one of the senior partners and very good. He made me feel I'd done the right thing! :)
I'll take more care now, but hands are hard... :)

    Hi
Glad you got that sorted. It must be so hard not being able to use your hand.
    Take care.

h015.gif Knitting Sue - you won't need any woolies till winter so there's plenty of time for that. I suggest the most strenuous thing you do with your wrist is type to us

    Take care.

Hello. Thanks for all your kind replies. I know that is was stupid. I think I overdid it! The knitting was quite sore, but I hate just sitting with the TV on unless the programme is really interesting. Also, its so easy to use your hands without thinking  but, the pain soon reminds me, although thats a lot better now. The inflamation worried me though as it looked as if it could be the start of infection and its quite sore.

Still, I'm OK and being a lot more careful now. The scar looks less red and is a lot less sore today! :)
