bright red palms of hands

I have RA in all the joints of my fingers and hands. I have noticed that the palms of my hands and my fingers have become really bright red, as if you had suffered sunburn badly.
Has anyone else ever had this. My fingers are very painful because of the RA.
It is a bit embarrassing as people ask me what I've done to my hands, thats how red they are.
Any help would be appreciated

Hi Trisher
Hope you are doing ok otherwise
I think that what you are decsribing is possibly a symptom of the RA and the only idea I have is to ask rheumy next time you go.
Others might have better ideas than me.
I expect you've done the obvious like ice or cold water and only had temporary releif.
Are your meds otherwise controlling your RA?
Take care

hi trisher,
I suffer like this - my hands are really 'shot' - fingers pointing in all directions. The palms of my hands have been red for years - some days worse than others. It's all part of RA. Never been able to find a solution. I usually tell people who ask that I've been peeling beetroot.
Sorry not to be more helpful, but now you know there's at least two of us!

Hi Trisher,
In my early RA days and for years the bottom of my legs were an angry purple-red colour. The skin was also quite tender. This has faded now to a normal flesh colour but when that happened I don't know - I just realised one day that it had gone
If you're worried why don't you have a word with your GP - there's no harm in getting his/her opinion.
