Hi all
Long time since I've been on. Just got back from Gran Canaria and my husband ended up in the coronary care unit for 2 weeks, bit of a shock as he's only in his forties.
Anyway he is still off work so money is a bit tight so i'm thinking of going camping as a cheap holiday option.
Can anyone suggest anything that would make sleeping more comfortable for Sam.
At the moment he is doing not too bad and I don't want to risk things getting worse again.
Any ideas would be gratefully appreciated.
Julie
PS Great to see so many of the old names still here, and of course lots
of new ones.

    Julie!!!!
    How are you?!
Sorry about hubby - he's ok now though?
There have been young Mums on here who need your help!! with little ones about 2 years old and there were def two of them.
So good to hear from you! :)
Now your camping - good idea!
I suppose it depends how low down he wants to be because things vary from carry mats (very flat :( ) to sort of mattress thingies (might not be easy to get OUT of) to camp beds which are larger and quite a bit off the floor. I have used one of those when I went camping, but the ground must be level!!!! :)
Good to hear from you girl!
    Love

The best thing i have ever found to sleep on when camping is a thin memory foam topper , you can roll them up and they can be put in the back of the car , we have had one for the last 4 years and it is still as good as the day we bought it . I have had a knee and hip replacement and my back is not that good . they do roll up ok we leave it stored like that when not in use. I bought mine on ebay it was only cheap .... regards alicea

I wanted to go to Glastonbury but the thought of me sleeping in a tent is hilarious. First of all if I hit the ground thats me.... I'd never get back up, and with all the revellers who would hear my screams for help.....
I did consider taking a deck chair and sleeping in the beer tent, but some how don't think it would be allowed. lol
Hotels for me, and there a ruddy nuisance if they dont have walk in showers, have real probs getting in and out of bath to get showered.

Have you considered hiring a static caravan? These are usually cheaper than hotels/cottages, but with all amenities to hand and will give you somewhere to be if it pours with rain. No sitting in a tent watching the drip, drip or struggling with a cooker. We spent 30 years camping and you need to be tolerant and reasonably fit to enjoy that type of holiday.

Many statics are situated in good areas and close to the sea if you want. Shop around online for a good location and price. They should have full plumbing, heating and electricity.

Hello, Sorry to hear about your husband - must have been a shock for both of you. Still I'm glad he is doing well enough to consider going camping :) . Thats something I've never done in my life; I'm scared of spiders, and I think that would keep me awake!

Personally, I like Josephs suggestion - hire a static caravan. Go on, tell me I'm a whimp, I don't mind, I know that already!!!

Whatever you do, have a wonderful holiday!

    hi
    i camp regulary
i use the thermo rest which i got cheaply from matalan. i also have a normal camp mat underneath.

I find a blow up bed too hard to get out of, especailly when i need a wee!!
