Hi all does anyone on here with OA of both patella (knee caps)get these secondary symptoms, apart from the flare up pain most of the time recently I keep getting this strong feeling of tingling and cold down both shins and the lower leg that goes into the feet!, it’s very odd and can be quite strong, (getting it now writing this) Also I have noticed it can sometimes be a precursor to a flare up but not always, my GP went Hmm maybe neuralgic pain, any ideas on this guys!?. :?:

Hmm, have you any trouble with your spine? Could be coming from there........ I would have thought your gp may have been a little perturbed to hear you are having numbness in legs and feet....... did he check you over at all? I have had a knee replacement and it looks like the other one needs doing much sooner than later. I also have sciatica and am seeing a specialist re my mri scan on Friday.

Have you had any blood tests done recently? If not ask for a full blood count.

Depending on which medication your on, you could have a vitamin B12 deficiency (which I've just been told I have) and symptoms do include tingling in hands and feet and feeling cold.

It's worth a shot as some drugs can interfere with the absorption of vital nutrients from diet.

    Hope you get it sorted.

no you`re not as daft as a brush..... I am at physio for OA new hips an shoulder vaccing... yes physio tells me tingling can come from my prolapse discs ...tingling in arms an legs...need to move and exercise get the blood moving around ...look up Formication... mine wakes me 2-3 times in night ..sometimes sitting.. feel like a wave starting and flowing thro` body like a buzzing (crawling effect) ....You got to breathe deeply and move your back to make sure nothing is trapped ...and having a cold flannel handy helps. U take care xx

    hello
i am just back from seeing the nuro-surgeon as i have spine and neck problems from OA. He says that although my L5 disc is trapping my sciatic nerve, he thinks once my disc has died off it will release the nerve and the pain will ease.
He did also say that as i am young and i have RA he would be reluctant to operate just yet.....he wants me to go back once its at a point of no return and then he will operate. dont get me wrong...i dont want the operation but seemed a bit odd at the time but its all about the long term management of the degeneration. He said that they have found that if they operate to soon in the disease the patient does not fair so well and the condition is harder to manage.
the nerve pain is the hardest to manage i find..i just cant get comfortable lying or sitting..have to keep moving which sets of my RA...cant win at the minute.
    any tips anyone?
