Just treated myself to an electric bath seat/lift The first time in over 3 years I have had a bath It sits in the bath[ you sit on it like a chair like when you get into bed] then press the button and it lowers you down into the water. press the button again and it lifts you up . It is transportable as well . I have been longing for a soak since I had my new hip two and a half years ago then a new knee last year. A shower is ok but its not the same is it girls?? Happy bathing

    Hi Wendy

Glad to hear you are enjoying your new bath seat. Isn't it bliss when you can get in and out without a struggle? I agree with you about showers. They are useful, but there is no substitute for a soak in the bath. Also, I find the warm water eases pain and stiffness in my joints too.

    Hi Wendy

Pleased to hear that you treated yourself. You are worth it. You must have thought you were in heaven :lol: As you say, showers are not the same thing, although I tend to have them much more often than a bath now, only because it all takes less time. I always clean the bath if I use it. :D The shower, somehow does not take long to make sure it is ok for the next time.

    Hope your weekend goes ok.

    Luv

The happiest people don't have the best of everything. They just make the best of everything.

If you can lay down at night knowing in your heart that you made someone's day just a little bit better, you know you had a good day.

I'm feeling really jealous as well.
Showering is just not the same as laying in a nice hot bath with loads of nice smelly bubbles a good book and a cup of coffee, well the book would get wet for a start,.
I haven't had a bath for almost a year now  one of the things I really miss since arthur took over.

    Enjoy!!

Could you not contact your local social work dept - occupational therapist to see if they can give you an electric bath lift?

I was given one a couple of years back by my local one - I now have a wet shower room.

I have to say that it's very rare that I have a bath (although I do shower every day, honestly! Just realised what that statement sounded like, I'm not smelly!). I've never really been a "bath" person. I'm far too impatient for the bath to run etc etc. Then I tend to get bored just lying there in the water even if I have remembered a book to take with me. I know it helps with pain, and I have run baths for this on off days, but I would rather jump in and out of the shower :-)

Nina I'm with you because I have a shower every day like you,

Also I cant stand the pain especially with my neck & hips I've tried loads of bath pillows  that have been recommended to me
which haven't helped but love my shower
