I was reading that it's been researched and is available as a cream for OA and has good results on the knees. I saw my gp today and he agreed to prescribe it for me to give it a go in the hope that it will help. He says it works for some people. Has anyone tried of it or heard of it? There was an article about it in the spring Arthritis magazine.
keep well

Thanks for your reply Annie, I've put some on this morning. They say it burns more if you don't apply it the full 4 times a day, I'll have to try to remember.
    keep well

Will do no problem, although it says that it could be up to a month or more before folks feel any benifit.

My mum uses it for flare ups. She has a spinal injury. She says that it can burn a lot if you apply too much but it does work for her pain (different cause though). Just make sure that you wash your hands REALLY well after and don't rub your eyes!!! Capsicin is the hot stuff in chilli peppers so take care.

    Hi

Yes i have used the cream for my back but unfortunately it didn't help but i think it is worth trying anything new because what doesn't work for one person may well work for another.

Here's hoping it brings some relief.

Thanks guys, I'll keep going with it and see how I get on. At the moment I'm just using it on my knees, such a small tube.

hiya, I started using it nearly 2 weeks ago and i think it's beginning to help, but the burning is the worse thing, it's really intense sometimes. I think the burning gets worse when you are near to the 4 hour thing, which is a bit strange. You only need a tiny amount which when you're putting it on your knees it doesn't seem like much but too much makes the burning worse. I use if 4 times a day and when I'm at work I have to keep my trouser leg pulled up much to everybody's amusement. I think they've decided I'm a member of some secret society!

To be honest I've not found the burning uncomfortable or anything. Maybe it will get worse? I've used deep heat in the past 'tho and like the feeling that it gives even if it does'nt take away the pain.

Just a little update r.e. me using the cream. I've had to stop for the moment. It's brought me out in what look like hives, at first I tried to ignore it but they kept on coming and I was getting covered in them, painful and itchy. I stopped the cream a day or so ago and I've not had any since. I'll maybe give it a week or so to completly settle down and try again.
