Hi Juejue
I have been diagnosed with OA of the back and knees by xray and my doctor has requested an appointment for me with the 'ease' clinic with a view to an MRI scan and steroid injections. Do you think this is the same thing as your 'pain' clinic? Did you have to wait a long time for your appointment? Obviously you probably live in a totally different area to me so appointment times may vary considerably, but I've waited a month and no appointment date has arrived yet - even if it is several months down the line - and I'm not sure how long I should wait before giving them a ring to get some idea of timescale. Last time I waited 'patiently' for some word from them it was 8 months before I discovered my doctor had failed to even arrange the promised appointment!
Anyway I'm glad you have found it helpful to you - it would be nice to find some help and advice from a Doctor/nurse who isn't totally disinterested in my problems and doesn't just fob me off with yet another prescription of painkillers that only succeed in making me violently sick!
Glad you are now getting somewhere!

It is good to hear positive news from you, juejue. Hope you do not have to wait too long for your next appointment.

Hi Smilla
I hope you do not wait too long, but check that you are in the system for a forthcoming appointment, especially after your previous experience.
If I was you I would call them next week as you have already waited a month. At least you will know they are aware of you even if they cannot give you an appointment yet.
Take care

Hi Juejue,
I am glad they have got round to helping you. You sound so much more up beat and pain brings us all down. I really hope they can do something long term and regular for you. Take care, Cris
Hi Smillajasperson,
It does sound like the same thing and like Elna said I hope you don't have to wait too long for a appointment. I have been under the pain clinic for a while now and it has really helped to take the pain down to a level I can live with mostly. Sometimes I go stupid and aggravate it all but if I behave then it really has helped. Mine was done by temp nerve blocks and steroid jabs and it has worked so well they may make the temp blocks permanent. Fingers crossed for you, Cris0 -
i waited about 4 months they are going to put injections in 3 of my disc joints and have started me on some new pills which the first days i cleaned most of the house ( big mistake ) in bed since then when i came out of the pain clinic i was feeling much better that somebody understood me and is getting me some help not like GP who just give you pain killers0

I am absolutely fuming! :x I rang the 'Ease' clinic this morning to ask how long I should expect to wait to receive an appointment date to see someone - only to find my doctors had not even been in touch with them!!
I rang my doctors to ask why and was put through to the secretary who said 'Oh I knew what it would be about as soon as I heard it was you'. She told me she had not been able to request an appointment because she couldn't marry up my name with a medical number. I have been with this practice for 1 year and in 4 doctors requests for appointments with physios and the Ease clinic NO ONE has thought to phone me and explain the problem and ask if I could help! I was with my previous doctors for at least 15 years but apparently the problem was they couldn't locate my address prior to that to try and get this magical number so nobody has done anything! How they managed to make me an appointment for an xray 2 months ago is beyond me - surely they must have had this problem then? I have been waiting 'patiently' yet again in vain and if I hadn't sought the advice of you all it would have rumbled on for weeks more. They now have the necessary address and I have said they must come back to me if that doesn't give them the info they need - I don't want to waiting months longer than necessary because of some secretary's stupidity!
Anyway the Ease clinic said I would hear within 2 weeks of a Doctor's referal and at the moment appointments are being made for August so hopefully this time not too long to wait to see someone!!

Well thank goodness you gave them a ring. If you'd not phoned I wonder if they would ever have made your referral. August is only around the corner, fingers crossed you get your appointment soon.
keep well0
