Hi
Have been having a flare up the last couple of days. It hasnt been as bad as usual as my gp gave me some steroids to prevent it getting too bad last week.
I had physio this morning for my knee and it consisted of him basically just examining my knee and checking the movement in my whole leg as I am quite restricted in my hip and back and my thigh bone refuses to turn out of inwards.
I laid on the bed and i can bring my knee up to my chest (well in that direction but not quite that far) then i had to turn knee out to open hips and in. Well, I couldnt move it at all as it is so stiff. He basically told me to relax and he gently moved it, I was in agony.
When the appointment finished I could barely walk back to the car and all afternoon and eveningg I have This weird feeling of my leg falling out of its socket. I feel like my hip is going to give way on me and I have no control whatsoever of my upper leg. It feels very bizarre. I also have a problem walking and can feel my thigh bone digging into my hip bone. It is quite painful and seems to be getting worse as the evening gets later. I have taken tramadol but its not touched it yet.
anyone had this feeling? any ideas what it oculd be??

Poor you. Sounds horrenduous. It may be that your physio therapist should not have gently moved your leg outwards. What was the point of him doing that if you could not do it on your own, I ask myself. Quite often people on here say they hobble out or are in agony after a physio session they have had. Surely this cannot be right. I have never experienced that, thank goodness. Perhaps a little bit of discomfort but no more and it has gradually worn off.
Can you speak with this physio tomorrow?

I will phone the physio today. I've been up and down all night with my hips on fire. My whole body broke out into a big sweat during the night because I was in agony with it.
I was doing quite well until physio! I'm sure he had his reasons for it - I just dont know what!

Goodness me! What an awful night you had and because of a physio session. Unfortunately, whatever reason he gives for it, it has done you no good and sound like harm.

I sincerely hope something gets sorted for you today.

    Good luck,

That sounds awful, I really think you should get in touch with the physio to give feedback. I don't think they should have done that to your leg. Physio is supposed to help, not make it worse. Maybe you should get the gp to check you over. Let us know how you get on. I hope it improves for you.

    Take care

    Hi
just spoke to physio and he said it is just an arthritis reaction to the movement. Where it hasnt been moved in that direction for so long it has inflammed. I have to see how it goes for a couple days and try not to walk on it!! hmm. well that will be tricky!
If it is still painful in a few days he said to ring him back.
The tramadol seem to be helping a bit and making it more bareable to walk.
Never had this feeling before! Anyone had anything similar?? Or bad reaction to physio?

    Hi Bailey

Sorry to hear about your experience with the physio.

I had a truly awful time with an over enthusiastic physco, sorry I mean physio, well, at least I think she was a physio, could have been one of the cleaners stepping in

The session made me quite ill and I had gone there to improve my already bad mobility but she made me worse and I didnt half suffer for it.

I had to phone and complain to the senior physiotherapist as I did not want to think of anyone else going thru what I did, and I cancelled the rest of the sesssions, unfortunately that means I have had no help as the back up of hydrotherapy has hardly materialised cos of the pool being out of action 12 times out of 14.

Do hope you feel better soon as your hip pain sounds terrible.

Take care and as you havent much option, rest up !

    Poor you!
    Silly physio
Glad it has eased a little and just wanted to offer my sympathy.

What else could he possibly have replied to your question. I cannot see how what he did has helped you one jot. Hindered more like. I hope it very soon improves. Personally I would be very wary to see him again.

Physio should not leave you in excruciating pain. Doesn't make sense. Physio is meant to be gentle.

    Best wishes

I have had bad physio sessions, I was pushed that hard I passed out! I think elna has it right. There are physios and there are physchos!!!!! I too would be extremely wary of seeing him again, I don't think his explanation makes any sense either. Run it past your gp and def tell your rheumy when you see him. You shouldn't be reacting in this way and you shouldn't have been made to do something you were uncomfortable with. Sorry I sound as if I am ranting!!! :D

Hope it settles down soon. rest up.

Will do thank you very much for your kind words and advice.

It is easing off a bit as the day progresses.
I have this constant dull ache in my bum cheek which isnt too pleasant as it hurts to sit down, walk and when I lay down I can't get up again so am keeping moving around house nice and slowly. I find if I sit down or stay still for too long it gets worse so I'm keeping it moving.

Glad you are feelin a bit better Bailey - that sounded awful.
As for your bum cheek pain - what if it's your bursa? Try lying on your side with a pilklow between your knees. Or walking with a stick if you HAVE to

Think I'll be going ot see GP in the morning. The pain is easing but it just doesnt feel right and I am getting uncomfortable feeling down my leg, like it has gone dead and I need to move it. Either that or I'll phone the physio back and tell him and see what he says. Dont think he can say much though other thant to rest it. Drs it may be tomorow then.
Just as I was getting on top of it too and this happens!! aarrgghhh

Oh, Bailey that sounds like an awful experience. I agree wit the others - I'd speak to my gp. I wouldn't like to see a guy like that again. The two I've seen haven't expected too much of me.

Hope you get a more comfortable night tonight.

    Hi
Things have settled down throughout the course of the day. Feel like I have taken a huge step back this week though and thought I was making imrpovements. I can understand with arthritis you have your up adn down days, but not when it is caused by someone else!
