I hate my knees.

God what a day, my knees have been so good the last week or so but yesterday all hell came my way, why is it that one day it’s as calm as anything then you get hit by a pain truck, right knee pain still getting through the Tramadol and Targinact, I can still move about quite well and haven’t lost much in the way of movement but as soon as I stand up and move about I get this feeling that builds up in the leg around the knee, for the men out there it’s like being kicked in the crown jewels but transferred to the legs/knee, it builds up in a wave like the leg is being crushed then passes only to repeat again, I’m not sure if it’s that or the pain killers that are making me feel sick but sometimes I could easily throw up.

Oh my goodness, your descriptions brings tears to my eyes and I am female. Perhaps you should describe your pain exactly like that when you next visit a medic. I hate my knee too - used to hate the other one but that has been under the knife so is plastic and metal now. Tramadol can make you feel sick but you can get anti sickness pills......... there is a pill to prevent side effects from pills, frightening, isn't it?

I hope you feel at least marginally better very soon. Chin up,

Hi, sorry you are in so much pain. Does a heat or ice pack bring you any relief? I know when my neck was really bad the pain made me want to throw up. Thankfully my gp got me some morphine and tramadol and it takes the edge off. Maybe you need some more pain meds? Rest up, I hope it eases.

Thanks for the quick replies, sorry I’m having a moan, my GP and others in positions of authority treat me as if I shouldn’t be having so much of a problem yet the surgeon informed me I have very advanced OA of both patella and if I carry on as I am I will destroy what’s left very fast and he wont operate until I’m in my 50’s yet I just can't seem to get this through to some people, pain killers don’t stop it much tend to make me feel high, I loose concentration when I’m like this so writing this is an effort, God it’s so frustrating I’m sure a lot of people at work think I’m a fake as I haven’t lost any of my general mobility and normally my knees don’t even swell up when they feel like this even after the op, they generally just go a bit red the only outward sign is I walk with a limp.

Never apologise for telling us how it really is for you. There is absolutely no need to do so. That is one of the reasons why we join and stay with this forum - we can message how it really is for us, good and bad and receive responses of advice and sympathy.

    Keep on, keeping on,

My friend has severe oa of the kneecap and she really struggles with the pain. She has the same problem as you, there is nothing to 'look' at, so people don't understand how much she struggles. I am suprised at your gps attitude, maybe its time to change? Keep posting and let us know how you are doing. We understand.

    Take care
