Sternum pain and swelling?

Hi, what I think is my sternum has come up in a swollen painful lump. It is most uncomfortable. My ribs are really hurting and tight as well. If you follow your shoulders to the centre of your chest it is there. Does anyone else get this? I now have a lump on the back of my neck and a lump on my front, most attractive! :roll: I would be interested to know if anyone else gets this.

Hello, Its hard to say without seeing it and even then I'm not a doc, so can only guess ! I think a vist to your GP is the best thing. On my leg, I have a lumb like a small egg, which the doc called a 'fatty lump' well, slighty rude, that diagnosis . It could be a collection of fluid or a node, but if I were you, I'd see your GP. If its any comfort I think its due to RA. I've had this too, it comes and goes along with all the other lumps and bumps
Sue, oh yes, I've got a couple of fatty lumps too lol! Could do with some of that liposuction - but theres no-way I'd have anything done unless it was absolutely necessary :shock:

get same when having a flare up going to ask doc next time i am there :oops: lol good luck hope u get sorted let us know what doc said u will prob get there before me mine on hol and dont want to go through every thing with another doc :roll: :roll: :roll:val0

Thanks for your replies. I know it is the Ra as it feels like all my other joints, it is just such an unusual place and is so uncomfortable. I have a book on Ra and it said it is the sternoclavicular joint. I can't believe how many joints are affected, it feels like a new one every day. Arthur is full of suprises!
