In the last 4/5 months I have had four odd flares. First left hip, then right shoulder, again right shoulder and last one in left hand. They come in a few hours, last for 4/5 days then fade away. The pain is off the scale, last time made me hot/cold and sick. Last one I was prescribed morphine and given course of steriods. Had the best week for years but that has ended. Now back to the usual.
Anyone else experienced anything like this. I beleive it is because I cannot take anti-inflam and am hoping they will try me on anti-tnf, but will have to wait and see. (I take MTX)

Hi
I get flare ups that are unbearable. mine though are only in my lower back and left hip.. Some days I feel so good I go swimming, long walks, go to the gym etc.... then all of sudden I'll wakr up and not be able to move.
I take celebrex anti inflammatory which is ok i guess but recently been on the steroid tabs again which are marvellous and managed to go over the gym today and do some weights and cycling.
There is such a differance between a good days and bad day it is quite surreal.
At the moment I am having a good couple of days so making the most of it before another one comes. I am not quite on top of the arthritis yet so never know what causes a flare up.
Hope you feel better soon0 -

Yes, I am having a huge flare up at the mo, Can feel sick and hot/cold with the pain like you. Haven't had one like this for years and its been 3 weeks now. But then on the other hand, I can have one that will last a day, few days, start in the morning, afternoon, night and have no warning at all. Pretty mixed bag.
its pants really :x
Good pain medication goes a long way to help manage and a wheat bag!!

oooooh you do get ood days then once they have sorted the meds out!!!!!!!!! I can't take anti - inflams so have just got my tens machine and paracetamol until I see rheumy on the 19th (and trusty hot water bottle of course) so every day is a bad day for me at the mo. Constant pain and everything feels like I am climbing everest it all takes so much effort even as you say getting dressed. BUT you give me hope that I will have good days once they get this sorted.0
