Hi
I used to love swimming but even with a flotation device between my thighs I find holding my hips horizonatally in the water too painful. Does anybody know of a device/suit that would keep my hips in a hotizontal position so that I could swim using just my arms?

Hi.sorry I cannot help with advice about a real flotation device but 2 years ago swiming in the sea off Cyprus I had to buy a pair of what I call adventure boy sandals.Plastic with velcro (so waterproof) and they lifted my feet up to the surface all the time.I only bought them to cross the pebbles and do some snorkelling.
When I swim at the pool I do Australian crawl, this is on your side but it does still require you to lie horizontally albeit on your side.

Hi
You can get these long tube type floats about a metre long and 5 inches wide, which you can wrap around your body, bend in half, basically bend it into any position you want. I see a lot of people wrap it around their front and float on top of it.
I cant think of the name of it though, sorry.0 -
I can't swim, but I love the water and would love one of those long things I've seen the kids with, but I'm too self consious! I'll have to borrow someones small child to take swimming!

When i was waiting for rheymy app one of the gps in my practice told me to go swimming every day, i told im i cant swim, plus i still work. His reply was to take lessons, and go after work, even though by then i can hardly walk!!! He toldme its "only" oa, so live with it, take exercise and lose weight and the problem wll disappear with time!!! He refused me any pain meds telling me to take paracetemol. At my appt i discovered oa in both knees, shoulders and neck and ra in feet hips and hands!!! I wont go back to see him again, would rather wait for one of the regular gps that i see. Good lluck with swimming aids, love Jay0 -
Hi
Actual swimming or even just floating is agony for me so i brought a floatation device that you wear that keeps you upright in the water.
It works well for me.0
