Hi all,

Just wondered, my dad has an appointment on August the 18th. Im pretty sure this is the first appointment he has had in England knowing it is RA. Before that we knew it was arthritis just didnt know which.

For those who dont know his situation he has just come back from living in Spain and had knee surgery within 1 week of coming back. His appointment is at the hopsital where he had his surgery which is nice to think they will know all about his situation 'inside and out' shall we say. So im thinking its teamed with an 'after-care' type thing with his surgery.

As for seeing the rheumy what type of questions should he be asking? I mean he wants to get back working and he also wants to get back over to Spain to pick up some belongings so should I be asking about DVT and bloodclots because being after surgery? He isnt going yet but am worried about that.

Hope you are all having as pain-free a day as you possibly can.

Shelley (and John)

    Hello,
I'd ask about anything thats worrying you, so, if travelling and the possible risk of blood clots is one of them, then ask. I'd write down the questions you want to ask, as its so easy to forget and write down the answers too! I'd ask about the things that are worrying you most. Like what sort of work you should think about doing or even if you should be working. All the things you've asked us. Have a think and start a rough draft list. You can take things out and put things in as the time gets closer and you think of more things. Good luck. Love Sue

    Thanks Sue,

We had a bit of a practice today because Dad has gone to see the doctor about his meds and his progress but it is a temp doc for him as he is living with me so will see what advice he will come back with.

Thanks for the advice I will try and think of more for when the time comes.
