I made an appointment to find out exactly what was found in my xrays and what arthritis I have, what treatment I will need and what the furure holds re the arthritis.

I have Osteoarthritis in my neck. The rubbing of the joints at the 3rd and 4th the 4th & 5th

Not exactly what it means though

The doc said that I should hear from my Physio appointment in the next 2-3 wks.

With reguard to what will it mean for the future all the doc could say was it could ease, it could get worse with time, but the physio when started should help.

So I'm still not really sure what it all means.

I may know more after Physio when ever I start that?

Thanks for all your help.

    Hello,
I think what your doctor means that you have the type of arthritis which is sometimes referred to as 'wear and tear' . It means that the spine, which is made up of small joints which hold the disks in place to keep us upright are rubbing against each other and irritating the nerves in the spine. The upper disks in your neck are called ceverical disks or C disks and numbered from the top. I have this problem, and also the same lower in my spine. I hope to start physio soon to strengthen the muscles in the back and 'core' or tummy area, so the spine does less and it helps the pain. This is my very rough understanding. Someone will know more I'm sure.  Love Sue
