Ha! Keeping arther at bay.
the other week I posted that I was going to give this Arther thing a kicking, so far so good. (I think)
although I,m managing to get on with things.
I am worried about travelling on the train in a couple of week,
I,m taking my mobility scooter with me and my dog.
but having not travelled on a train before while being DisabledI'm wondering if I'll manage I got one of the rail cards which have saved me a 1/3 on the fare.

but will anyone be able to help me on and off the train,
any suggestions welcomed.
hope every one is keeping their chins up.
and keeping as positive as they can.
lots of love.

    Good for your Debbierose :D:D:D

Why not information the stations that you are getting on and off at that you shall need assistance? I have seen a person who uses our little station in a wheelchair with a dog being very well looked after by the traindriver and guard as there is no ticket office and at the other end have been met by station staff to help her make a smooth transition from train to station. :D

Enjoy your trip and have a lovely day. Keep positive, like you are doing, that's the way to do it. I am full of admiration!!

The happiest people don't have the best of everything. They just make the best of everything.

If you can lay down at night knowing in your heart that you made someone's day just a little bit better, you know you had a good day.

You can phone National Rail Enquiries - 08457 484950. Tell them which line you`re travelling on, and that you are disabled, and require assistance. They will give you the relevant number to call. You can then book for a member of staff to be there to help you when you are getting on and off the train.

i've been looking into to this recently.
if you get higher rate (i think) mobility you can get a disabled rail card. it cost £18 and if you cannot get a leaflet from local station then i e.mailed - disabilty@atoc.org - asking them to send me the leaflet and it has the application form attached. received it within a couple of days. the card gives you a third of your ticket and that of another adult with you (in case you need there help)
the leaflet tells you how to get assistance whilst travelling, i think you are best of booking help 24hrs before you plan to travel and they will help plan your journey depending on what help you need.
    i hope this helps?

    HI Debbie R

Glad you are feeling so sprightly with your OA.

Look on the internet for information about train travel for disabled people. I honestly don't know the answer. Someone is bound to know. I was in London a few weeks ago and they have set aside seats near the doors for disabled people. I get about with my stick and generally people are considerate. My husband was with me and he made sure I was ok.
