Hello all, as some of you know I have had four hip replacements on the R side and my last one was just over two years ago when they also patched up my pelvis it took me 18 months to get over and was told they wouldn't do anymore on that side, now I am getting a lot of pain and it catches me when I do some things hence the worry, my only saving grace is that my knees and hands are bad too at the moment so I have fingers and everything crossed that it is just a flare up , if it keeps on I will have to ring the surgeon but I am giving it a couple of weeks to see how it goes. I dont think I could stand it if something is wrong with it.
Well have got that off my chest sorry everyone, take care

    Hi Rosie

I can understand why you feel worried after having so many problems with your hip already. I get Bursitis in my hip from time to time, and it is very painful. I wonder whether that could possibly be the trouble with yours. I think you will have to get it checked if the pain continues, but hang on for a week or two to see whether it improves.

:P Hello , I have arthritis and have had so many because things just keep happening with them! the first one lasted only 2 yrs then came loose, the 2nd lasted a bit longer and then moved, then the third lasted the longest and moved again and the pelvis started to crumble, I had the first when I was 32 I am now 53..I also have it in my knees hands neck.

    Dear Rosie

Aw, I do feel for you. You really have been and are going through so much. I have never heard of anyone having so many repeat ops in the same area and side of the body. Let's hope it is a flare and will soon disappear. You know your own body more than anyone so you go with your instinct and wait, if you are able to do so. If not, after a couple of weeks, very wise move to call your surgeon. Hopefully it will not come to that but at least you do have a back up plan. I do wish I could make it all go away for you.

Sending you over a cyber hug,

    Love
    Elna x

    Hi Rosie

Just read your post. I have had 5 hip replacements and have had my pelvis rebuilt to. When they went in to revise it the first time about 15 years ago, my surgeon was just able to pluck the cup out of my pelvis. There was nothing holding it in!! I've got mesh and bone graft and pins and allsorts in there now. The last one was in 2006 and it took me about 9 months to get over it. I was non-weightbearing for much of the time but fingers crossed, things seem to have settled down.

I was told after the first revision that they couldn't do anything more but it's amazing what they can do if they have to. I'm still walking around, albeit a bit lopsided, but I'm still here...

I'm sure it's just a flare up but if it isn't it, it doesn't necessarily mean it's the end of the world. They are making advances every day. When I think back to my first THR in 1984, i was in hospital for a month. The last one, I was home in a week!
