DVLA/Blue Badges/Car insurance etc

Do I need to advise my insurance company, dvla etc that I have arthritis?
I have a blue badge now and obviously want to be 'covered' in the event of any accidents.
I would be grateful for any advice.

You should inform the DVLA but as far as your insurance goes, the arthritis doesn't matter. hope thats helped0

Hi Sharmaine
Tell them both, the DVLA may put restrictions on you. I got a check up from my Dr. who deemed me fit to drive and wrote a letter for me. Then had to tell insurance as if you don't and anything happens they will wriggle their way out of it. They just needed confirmation from DVLA and there was no problem.

I told them I sometimes wear splints when driving as was told that would invalidate my insurance if I didn't. Think I just sent them an email and it was dealt with very quickly with no effect on my insurance that I'm aware of, but felt better for doing it by the book, so to speak!

Hi
I have just telephoned DVLA and told them that I now have a blue badge. She said I had no need to contact them as these were issued via the local authority.
Very confused now!
Not sure what to do - shall I write and hedge my bets?

Hi Sharmaine
Does the DVLA and insurance already know that you have arthur? I think this is all that they want to know.
