Hi,
Has anyone else heard about the government green paper that plans to stop paying AA and DlA to individuals and instead paying it to Social services to set up care budgets for us ?????,
I saw a post about this on
www.benefitsandwork.co.uk
this is a site often recommended on this forum to aid us in filling in our AA and DLA application .
On the site it says if no one makes a fuss about this plan then this and future governments will think its ok to do this.
Have a look for yourselves and start SHOUTING !!! :x :x

Hi, I joined it yesterday after reading about this on another arthritis website, I had an e-mail saying that on the first day 5000 plus people joined on the first day, they will start campaigning about it now, hope they succeed love Jaspercatxx0

Hi
Thanks for this. I've read it and signed up for the campaign to stop them changing things. If the system works, why change it? I'm sure there was a survey being done by Arthritis Care on this some weeks ago and I more or less said the same thing. It's going to create absolute chaos and confusion for a lot of people. It does infuriate me when the government start making big changes - it costs money to change forms and it upsets people.
I would recommend you all reading it.

Please everyone sign up for the emails to fight the govt, it is very real and even if a new govt are voted in next year, it can still happen.
We cannot lose this fight, please do whatever you can or no more DLA or AA :x :x :x :x :x :x :x

I found this site invaluable when I had to go to appeal about my incapacity benefit and support them all the way.0

Done. Thankyou for the alert.
I currently get 3 lots of DLA as I have 2 qualifying children.I love the fact I can spend it on things I decide will benefit them which social services probably wouldnt understand.

DLA is the only thing I'm eligible for! How would this impact the motability scheme?! My car is my lifeline and would never afford one otherwise!!0 -

Hi,
Thanks for reading this post -- what will government think of next, one second telling us NO money to help with heating costs - then its we will run your care for you-- they think we are a soft touch - normally I would never wish our condition on any one BUT I do wish they had a real insight into HOW we live :x :x --- lets hope that this is a false alarm but do any of us trust our government ? one thing none of us need is the extra hassle , I wouldn't care but it is SO hard to get DLA in the first place isn't it ??
Thank You
Love

Thanks for that link. I joined today.
Community care provided by local authorities is a shambles most of the time - with all due respect to carers here who are doing a good job. A lot of the services are passed out to private 'companies' whose staff seem to arrive if it's not raining. I'd rather arrange my own people to come to me, then if they don't hack it, I can control the situation.0 -
The new thoughts proposed by the government will be about getting them out of a hole, making them look good in front of an electorate but above all else it will be about money, they've spent it all.
So, by the time these ideas come into being, the country will be a very strong 'blue' and there may even be some commonsense around, so don't get too upset.
Those that receive the care component of DLA have contracts in place to provide for themselves or others, imagine the disarray if these were all changed. Those that use the money for other ways of aiding their disabilities cannot just stop, so any future alterations to the system will take a long long time to come into fruition, long enough for governments to come and go!
8) Its a grin, honest!
Or am I just a cynic?0 -
Hi
Your are not a cynic. What you say makes sense. You are indeed blessed.............unlike the government!
I've already had a couple of rants about this as I see it as another way of the government 'wasting' millions of pounds of tax payers money. The only savings they will make is that those in real need and desperate will be so confused they won't bother to apply and will end up suffering needlessly. It makes my blood boil. How can they fully understand the complexities of this condition without proper consultation with the people or medical experts who really comprehend what it means to suffer; to lose their mobility because of arthritis? I suspect their knowledge is negligible. :?:
I hope everyone reads this post and responds accordingly.

If they are going to take away our benefits and give them to social services they might as well take away unemployment benefit and hand out clothing and food vouchers!
Maybe that is next?

Yes, that is the way forward me thinks
the govt are desperate, they've spent all our money, sold off our gold reserves, emptied our pension pot and we have been hung, drawn and quartered by them.
Rant over.... for a bit

This government is a complete joke. They bleed us dry with their porny mags and duck houses then take away the only allowance for people who really need it.
Politicians are filthy parasites who should be put on a boat and dumped 50 miles out at sea. SWIM!0
