Will I risk my DLA mobility by claiming for Care?

Hi all,
I'm in a bit of a dilemma. I get DLA mobility and have done for the past 16 years. I was awarded it indefinitely about 4 years ago and use it for a motability car. I've never bothered claiming for the care component - I think it's because I don't want to admit that I need help with those sorts of things. It's one thing admitting I can't walk very much, it's another admitting that I can't always bath myself!!
Anyway, my hubbie is currently out of work and claiming JSA and when he was talking to his adviser about me and the things he has to do for me, she suggested we apply for DLA care as it will open up all sorts of avenues.
The CAB adviser thinks there's a good chance I should at least be awarded low rate and possibly mid-rate care but he also said there is a chance that the DWP will re-assess my whole claim, not just the care component and sometimes, they stop the benefit until they do so. I can't afford to lose my car. It's the only car we have as my hubby sold his to pay the mortgage (!) and I really really need it.
What are the chances of the DWP stopping my benefit? Has anyone any experience of this?
I'd be grateful for some advice...
