Early OA revisited

I posted last week having been told I had early OA in my hip. I had some very helpful answers to my worries, in that the GP sent me off with a diag and told me to loose a little weigh and exercise. I actually went to the gym 3-4 times week before my injury/OA so was relieved that I could continue. What I forgot was to get anything for the pain while I build up these muscles!
I went back to my GP as suggested by quite a few of you. This time it was a different Dr and he was very thorough. Asked lost of questions, printed off my xray results and gave them to me. HE asked my symptoms, (which have changed over time) I now have very little hip pin, mild lower back pain and a numb lower leg with shin pain! He said that he xray was in fact a red herring in some cases and the he believed I have a trapped nerve and or sciatica. He showed me some exercises to loosen the back and hopefully nerve and gave me some Co-cod to manage the pain. I felt much better after seeing him, one because he attributed the pain to the nerve and 2 because he actually took some notice of what I said!
In addition to this, now he has mentioned the nerve thing I have been to a Chiropractor who says it is a trapped nerve in my spine (not sciatic) and has started to treat me accordingly to reduce the swelling and then hopefully the pain. The pain is mainly in my back and shin. I had my 1st treatment yesterday and felt much less stiff although today I have stiffened up again today, she said I would.
I am really hopeful that she will treat this and get me pain free and that the early OA is just that and I can stave it off with exercise and diet.
Has anyone else had chiropractor intervention? Any good?

Hi Gem
Pleased to hear that you felt much happier about the situation after you had seen another gp who seems, as you say, to have been extremely caring, understanding, knowledgeable and thorough.
I myself have not any experience of chiropractors but my brother has back problems that rears its ugly head every so often and makes straight for his chiro and so far has been sorted out, very quickly each time. He is a self employed gardener so cannot afford to be off work long at all.
Have a good weekend and all the best,
Love

Hello,
I'm glad you've seen a GP who has really been interested and caring. It does make a difference dosn't it? I have problems with a nerve in my neck, the problem is caused by a bone spur that even on the MRI is still tiny, but just in the wrong place. (typical of me!) I think whoever desighned us was having a bit of an off day when they did the back!!! Love sue0
