Hi, If I sit for more than a few miniutes in any chair, I find it hard to get up and painful. An armless chair is worse, as theirs nothing to hold on to. I have OA in my back, neck and hips.
Love Sue
Ps I also tend to wobble and hobble like an old lady and I'm only 54!

Hi
Sitting in one position for too long is ok until I want to get up. I have to (a) get help from someone (b) use my stick (c) hold on to something. Joints tend to seize when I'm not moving. I've got one of these elevation cushions which I put behind my back and this helps. If I'm watching a film on tv I sit for half of it ond lay down for the second half. And yes, it is uncomfortable.
I have OA in both knees and other joints (hands, right shoulder have started to ache this past year not as bad as knees). Sometimes left hip if I do too much.

A couple of wks ago just before I got diagnosed with Arthur I had to go out and buy some new settees as the ones we had were past it and I felt I was sitting on the floor they were so uncomfortable. The new ones seem to be much better, more firm although sometimes I find the need to put a pillow behind me to make me more upright and stop me slouching.0

Hi
I struggle with getting up after sitting for any length of time. I feel stiff and have aches in my back, hip, and legs. I have OA in my un operated hip and lower back.
I am back at work and find some days worse than others. I need to remember to walk about often and be careful of lifting and awkward positions etc... I always have pain killers with me, heat pads, muscles rubs etc.. and my stick if things are really bad. and iI have bought a lumbar support cushion (D cushion) for my chair at work.

I have OA of hip and noticed that when I have been sitting down for too long I get a pain in my coxyx area which is relieved by standing up. I was also getting pains in my lower leg/ankle area. The doctor says he thinks these problems are caused by my back - the pain is travelling down the nerve to the ankle. He advised me to sit upright in the chair and to push with my hands when getting up. I have also bought one of those cushions that fit in the small of the back and use this when I am driving or sitting at the pc.0
