Hi all

At last i have had my knees x-rayed and in a way i am hoping they can actually find something.

They are so painful while i am sitting, lying down and especially bending them to sit down or stand up.

My pain consultant says even if it doesn't show up on x-ray it doesn't mean i haven't got it.

If i have what can be done to help my knees?

Best wishes

Hope your xrays show something to give you peice of mind

How long have you been told the results will take?

After origionally being told 2 days I was told 2 wks and then the doc had to chase mine up.

    Good luck

    Hi,,
Good luck with the x-rays. If they don't show anything, keep to the doc if necessery, as pain means something is wrong. Love Sue

    Hi

Sorry to hear that you've been in pain. I was complaining about my knees for 10 years (was told by my former GP that it was sciatica) and the pain and stiffness was a nightmare. X-rays showed 3 years ago that I had advanced OA.

There must be some underlying reason why you're having pain so if it isn't your knees I'm sure your GP will investigate other areas.

It is wise to have it checked out. You'll have to let us know what the results are.

    Take care.

    Hi Heather

Knee and back pain is awful isn't it? I thought you said in a previous posting that you do have arthritis in your knees. Is there in fact a question mark about this at the moment?

You suffer with a bad back, do you think that it is perhaps referred pain from the back? Or if you have been putting much more pressure on your knees because of your back, for example, walking differently to try and ease the back pain? Do you use your knees more, to save your back when, for example, picking something up, and you may squat down to do this rather than bend the knees? Your knees may have had to work overtime to compensate for your back.

I am not sure what the pain clinic will offer because you are already on lots of meds - I read that in a previous post, you have had months of physio, but perhaps for the back only, not your knees. If it is wear and tear in your knees you may be offered an arthroscopy, which gives the knee a wash and clear out but lately it would seem that consultants are moving away from this procedure.

I am sorry I cannot be of more help, but hopefully your xrays will show something. If not hopefully you will be sent for an MRI which shows everything in much more precise detail, as to what is going on in your knees.

Let's hope you get the results soon. 2 weeks is usually the norm. Please let us know the outcome.

    Luv
