Ginger Tea

Has anybody tried Ginger Tea as a supplementary therapy? I have been making it with Ground Ginger and drinking about 1 gm a day ( grounds and all) for two weeks. I tried it in desperation as the prescribed NSAID was raising my BP to dangerous levels despite medication. I have not taken the NSAID in the last two weeks. My BP is down and the pain and stiffness has subsided to a very tolerable level. I do not know how long it will last but i propose to enjoy it while it does. i was diagnosed with RA in the spring and prescribed an NSAID and Methotrexate. I have not yet plucked up the courage to try the Methotrexate. If the pain and stiffness continues at no worse than it is now i think i will stick with the tea and keep the NSAID as a back up. I was attracted to the tea because of some limited research suggesting it was an effective Cox-2 and TNF-a blocker. I will post any changes in my condition.

Hi George,
Are you talking about making your own ginger tea? I bought some fresh ginger, peeled it, chopped it, and steeped it in boiling water.
Well, I don't know if it did anything for me, to be honest I wasn't sure if I was supposed to drink all the 'bits' off the ginger or not! In the end I gave up
How do you make it? I might give it another go........

Hi Jackie,
I just bought the ground powder off the herbal counter and made it with boiling water ( level tspn per cup). I drink the lot but i quite like the taste. Some don't. i have one cup in the morning and one in the evening. So far so good0 -
You could try adding a teaspoon of honey if you don't like the taste. I don't know about making you feel better, but I quite like some grated ginger in boiling water with honey sometimes - and no, I don't drink the bits of ginger :-)

Hi
There was a programme on television about natural remedies for arthritic pain. They suggested to drink one teaspoon of cider vinegar before eating. To make a tea with herbs: thyme; oregano; majoram; mint leaves and rosemary. I've taken to drinking mint tea. I've had the odd glass of cider vinegar with honey - can't drink neat vinegar! I suppose I will have to do this daily. I cook with a lot of fresh herbs. I haven't had a flare up since last month and that one lasted nearly 3 weeks.
I'm going to persevere with drinking the fresh herb tea. This lady also said that eating fresh pineapple was good for pain.
I haven't tried the ginger but use it when I'm making a curry.
I'm still on my medication. Too afraid not to take it - saying that I get flare ups when I'm on my meds.

I haven't had a biscuit for 4 weeks! Trying to lose a bit of weight.
My favourite tipple - cup of tea and a biscuit. At least having the herbal tea stops me reaching for anything naughty. I made the rosemary, thyme, oregano and mint tea today it was lovely. I decided to make a jug full and chill it. It really does taste lovely. Sweeten it with honey or sugar.
I'll see if it improves the joints.

Hi all,
I hear ginger is very good natural inflammatory and need extra recipes as got tonnes in my freezer! but in mean time also cider vinegar is also suppose to be brilliant for joints etc as my friend swears by it with her horses and chickens, i dont mind the taste of it so use it freely on salads and by the spoonful.
Any other tips welcome
