Hi Tracey,
That was the first joint I got any symptoms in - you have my sympathy! The usual things can help - cold/heat (am a heat fan myself!), the anti inflammatory gels can be useful, supportive footwear and a trip to the docs if it doesn't improve! I have insoles that were made for me to get as much weight as possible off that joint-it does mean you are very limited in shoe choice though and have had steroid injections into that joint several times-sometimes they've worked really well, other times not much at all. I have extra bone around that joint now so my toe doesn't move much-am severla years down the line though I hasten to add!! Do consult your doc if it doesn't improve cos foot pain is, quite literally, a pain!!

hi,i have oa too.
have you tried ice(bags of peas wrapped in towel)to get the swelling down :?: i dont get much swelling luckily but when my feet are sore i soak them in warm water.
also ibuprofen for inflammation if you dont already take it.
im not sure on meds for ra sorry.
hope your feet get better soon. debsx0 -
