Hi everyone

I've noticed over the past year that I've had patches of dry appearing on my body. For those who don't know me I have OA in both knees, hands etc. One knee is very bad and the heel of my foot is painful especially first thing in the morning and last thing at night. I seem to get weaker with each week that passes. I've noticed I don't have the strength in my arms that I used too. My GP is away until next week - I must remember to ask her about this skin thing. I get so hot too - it comes over me and suddenly I'm awash with perspiration is this the menopause? It is so embarrassing it feels as if if every pore of my body is leaking!!!!

This person I'm turning into is weak and being slowly crippled by this condition.

Also wanted to know if anyone had this.

My GP - for whom I have lot of respect - said an interesting thing to me recently. I mentioned a few things that were happening, including, like you, awful sweats. She said that sometimes when we suffer from a debilitating illness, we tend to attribute everything that happens to us, to that illness, and the medication taken. She went on to say that humidity has been extremely high recently, and that lots of people are suffering.

I`m not sure I buy it, but it is interesting. I guess I`ll find out when the humidity drops...Ange.

PS. The Body Shop Cocoa Butter is great for dry skin patches.

Hello, I think that its right to say that an illness tends to get blamed for everything and its something that anyone on here should be careful about. Its so easy to put a serious illness symptom down to arther and not even think it could be something else and a lot of problems, if you catch them early enough can be treated sucssesfully *spell??? :? my husband nearly missed a bowel pylip (it was, luckily nothing to worry about) as he put all the syptoms down to a change in medication for his diabeties, luckily we have a good GP. Love Sue :)

Thanks everyone. I will mention these horrid sweats to the doctor I suppose it is the menopause . I am 53 and was peri menopausal about 5 years ago. My OA has rather taken over my life.

I'm just a bit down today - I feel like an old hag! I'm going to shampoo my hair; put on some slap and doll myself up. I sent my post this morning not long after I woke up.

I keep hoping that one day I'll wake up with a spring in my step!

    Have a good weekend.

I think I agree with this humidity thing too. I know meds can make you hot, but this year, it has seemed so tropical don't you think? I'm worried about 'perspiring' . horses sweat. the old saying goes.
It's the wedding tomorrow as I'm sure everyone is fed up with hearing about, but have been to body shop to try and sort out make up that will help. And yes love the cocoa butter. Lovely smell too. Have used it most of my life. I will add that Tesco do one at £1.45. More runny but goes a long way.
