Hi everyone, hope you are all okay this evening,
I wondered if anyone with more hip experience than me could shed any light: several times in the last couple of weeks I've felt like my hip was coming out of its socket, so to speak  , usually when I've bent down to pick something up off the floor and once when I turned over it bed (managing to wake myself up). It ffels like something clunks then goes back in-it is quite painful. Have also had a funny nagging pain down the front of my hip, not the side, with an odd sensation sometimes, almost like my leg feels restless (sorry if not explaining myself very well!) I've never experienced anything with my hips before and am getting a bit worried!
Thanks, Josie

    Hi Josie,

I sometimes get a feeling that somethings sliding over in my hp when I'm straightening from standing and it can be a bit sore but it doesn't feel as though it's coming out of place.

It's obviously worrying you and hurting so you should either see your GP or Rheumy to let them have a look.

    Hi, Thanks for your replies,
I will go to the dr if it doesn't start to improve-I'm just hoping arthur's not gone there!! I'm hoping it's because of the way I'm walking because of my foot, as that's been bad these last few weeks (yet another reason to have it fused if you ask me!) I've also had a very stiff sore elbow recently that becomes painful to bend when it's been held straight for a while-hope that's not added to the list as well! Maybe I'll have to ask to be refered back to rheumatology-am with orthopaedics at the moment because they're focusing on my foot. Ho hum

    Hi Josie,

I am sorry you got more things there and hope it isn't anything other than how you are walking. Mine have early onset, one hardly rotates at all and I get the feeling if I was to force it (and the Rumo did and it wouldn't go) it might pop out but mostly it feel sort of broken. Have you though any more about having your feet 'done'? I remember a while back you were thinking about it. I can't give much advice and I don't know how mine are early on set or how it works but I am sending you a cyber ((( ))) and a hope your appointments all go well and maybe if they do sort out your foot your hip will quieten down? You take care Luv Cris x

    Thanks Cris,
Yes, I did decide that having the right big toe fused was the best option, although the thought terrifies me, so went to apoointment in June all ready to tell them I wanted it doing, and the consultant turned round and said they'd decided they didn't want to do it yet, come back in 6 months! So am back in Nov. Crushed is probably the best description of how I felt-why put me through all the decision-making and then change their mind?! :x Don't hold out much hope for Nov to be honest, think they'll just delay again. Think it's the usual thing of x-rays not showing pain! I do understand their reasoning for not doing it yet, not sure if they understand mine though! This next academic year is the best time for me to be off for a while as well. Oh well, we'll see. Hope all is okay with you

    Hi Josie,

I know that one, my lot do it over my neck! The Rumo said if the jabs worked he would be prepared to try and make it permanent if I was prepared to take the risk and I got all excited that just maybe it could be removed and then I got the pa diagnosis and now everything is messed up! :( Still Flower in the end it will all come good and I hope they will really help you next time. Hey the foot thing is something they have mentioned to me and when I lost my toe they made me a temporary shoe out of some weird textured stuff but hollowed out the area beneath the bit were the joint was halved so there was no presure on it, is that the kind of thing they are doing for you?

You hang in there and if you have decided yes push your consultant when you see him and I really hope they do something for you soon. Luv Cris xx

    Hi Cris,
Yes, that's similar to what I have in my shoe, so shoes have to be deeper to fit it in-the area is hollowed underneath the toe joint. They certainly help but still do not allow me to walk pain-free and severely restrict shoe choice. Still not clear about the cause - PA/early onset OA?? Hope you are okay today!

Hi I have OA in my hip's and they clunk and grind some times I would get it checked out with doc might be the best. There is a nerve that runs down your leg that can get trapped but you are in a lot of pain then
    Hope you feel better soon

    Thanks Debbie,
I suspect they will just say it is another joint to add to the list! I don't think it's painful enough to be a trapped nerve, it does sometimes clunk a bit when am doing exercises to keep things moving (forgot to mention that!) Hope you are okay today

That was how I described my hip pain before my op.It was the only way to get thru to people how painful it was.First of all I lost flexibility...climbing stairs, not being able to get out the bath, and then severe pain and a feeling of cracked bone getting into bed, walking and especially bending down.My children could not sit on my lap after xmas 2007.

It felt like it was coming out the socket.Maybe they will give you an x-ray to see what damage is starting and how advanced it is.
    Hope to hear from you

Maybe ignorance is bliss! I will go to the doctor though if it doesn't ease up soon and will let you know how I go on.

Debbie, best of luck for tomorrow, will be thinking of you. Take care.
