Hello All,

Today is the first time since my ra took effect of me that im completly alone in the house as my partner (also carer) has had to take my younger brother yo his college interview, as hes only 16 and my dad crnt drive after having a stroke!

So im feeling a little down, i crnt get dressed as my swollen and feel really painful :( I want a drink but i fear lifting it i may well tip it down me (ive done this many a time due to simple stubboness!) My feet are also swollen so i crnt go for a walk :( and i crnt drive anyway because of the damage on my foot.

So im all alone, feeling very sorry for my self the realisation of RA has hit more today because of being alone. Although i am tired and only been up two hours, not a good day!

Hows everyone else doing?

Hello, I felt like that after a major op and my husbad went back to work. Try watching TV, reading, anything, really and you'll soon get used to it. May have a big phone bill, though! Also, what about us? Take care, love Sue

I know what you mean, my hubby went back to work today and everything is a struggle for me. Got my daughter to help but she can only do little things. So trying to adjust....

But on the up side and you must try to look on the up side, got the tv to myself and can get onto the computer without him here.

    Abandoned - that's how you feel - I've been there :(

I, too, was going to suggest a straw, I have some nice funky ones and I've also invested in plastic picnic cups for bad days. On okay days I go back to using normal mugs and cups but I do go for bone china as they're lighter than clay mugs. I have been known to take my plastic cups out with me along with my own cutlery and if I forget and I'm not feeling so good I always ask for a straw and then there are no spillages..... I can now say 'straw' in three languages

Luv Legs who's a bit clever today :D

Hi, feel really sorry that you are feeling so bad, I have had it happen to me when my husband had to visit his dad, I was on my own and didn't even dare to go to the loo in case I fell over, have you told your Rheumy nurse how bad you feel or your gp? you have the right to demand a home visit from the gp if you can't get out, hope you feel better tomorrow love Jaspercatxx

    Hi all,

I took your advise and went for a lye down  and well just got back up  im now enjoying whatching the cout down to the end of football transfer window and i shall enjoy informing my partner when he gets in hehe!!

My partner wants to buy me a "baby" mug .. so can fill it up before leaving so i can have a drink n if i drop it wont spill any were or break  but i feel really well silly im 24 and its embrassing not being able to have a "glass" ive not had a hot drink since october 2008 cuz i just crnt hold the mugs :(

Hopfully i will feel better as the time goes on and i get use to it, although my boiler has decided to break :( so RA is going to have a good flare up as no engineers can come til tommorrow.

On a good note i now live in a bungalow so i dnt have to worry about stairs.

Thanks for all your messages x

Sorry you feel so isolated and down. Have you had a home assessment by OT? They can recommend gadgets to help you. They have mugs that are plastic that don't get hot so you can have a hot drink. I would be lost without my cuppa!!!

When my hubby goes away, it makes me realise how much he does for me, as I can't manage without him. Everything is such a struggle.

    Enjoy the telly!!

    Hi

I have bad hands and fingers. My OH got me a couple of those proper bottles. He fills them both up and I use a straw. Works a treat.

You can hold the bottle easier and you can have the top closed so you do not spill it. when you lift it. They are chunky enough to hold and I don't have to have OH running in and out getting me drinks.
