Hi
Wondered if anyone could advise me. Have had blood results back and blood count 9.6 and white blood platelets high. I have had stomach pains and last week I was given tablets to help with inflammation of the stomach. Had letter from doctors that I had to go and see them and went back yesterday and they want me to go for a scan on my stomach as they said that with RA it can affect the internal organs, i.e. spleen and liver. Got me frightened a little. Anyone else had to have this. Also I have had pains in my right calf. Have been so worried as I have ready that high white platelets have been linked to thrombosis.
Regards

Di

Morning Di,sorry your results are confusing ,platelets and white blood count are seperate results, they are both different components with different functions in blood,so results would be White cell count= ** and platelets***= ,and not "white cell platelets."so not sure what your Dr could mean by that.
Also which result is it thats 9.5 ? Is it Haemoglobin?,it doesnt sound as tho your doctor has explained things very well to you do you have a rheumatology nurse you could contact or if you need clarification could you make another GP appointment.[/quote
    Hi

Thanks for that. Sorry I have confused you my haemoglobin is 9.5 and doctor says it is my platelet level that is high.

    Hi Di,

I am sorry your bloods have worried you but I too have high white cells and platelets count. I have a circulation problem and I wonder if maybe you have raynaud's or simular? That does get a high platelet count, at least the simular does. I have a drip every 4 months and it all helps to restore the balance. my white cell count is always high cus I have low grade infection all the time or maybe only when I have bloods done  I hope they can sort you out soon. take care Cris
