ok been on this for a while first hands then feet then lastly hip. which is much better now the pain killers were great helped me to keep going . the thing is started with bad headache last night had missed two doses as pain was much less. so took some paracetamol which with early night helped still have slight headache but not so bad. is it the co-codamol causing headache as is one of the side affects just wondering how long will last

    Hi,

I take dihydrocodeine and have found that I hardly get any headaches with them, although I did get a pounding one every few days with tramadol, and I was on them for months.

So I suppose they affect everyone differently, but the constipation... now that is an another story!!!

have you tried the movicol 2 sachets a day in water[more like six-eight in a litre] that might just work

    Hi,

Movicol, yes know about that, but liquorice allsorts are sooo much nicer. Thanks for your advice, might look in the chemist.

HI I take co-codamol when I need to, although I must admit I much preferred the coproxamol before they said we couldn't have it any more!

I find that the stronger ones do mess with my head :? :? , and 2 of the 30/500 are too much for me through the day, but I also have 8/500 prescribed for me by the GP.

I either take paracetamol, or the appropriate strength of the co-codamol depending on the pain and what I need to do (can't drive on the stronger ones the way they affect me)

when 2 of the 8/500 was not enough but 2 of the 30/500 were too strong for my head, I asked the pharmacist, and he was happy for me to take one 8/500 with one 30/500 so I got 38 of eh codeine with the normal amount of paracetamol

Of course it would be best to check first that that was ok for you - although I can't see why not if you have them prescribed for you as long as you never take more than two at a time, and not more than 8 in any 24 hours.

sorry if that was a bit complicated - I am due more co-codamol any moment!:lol::lol:

Echo wonkylegs and co proxomol. A very efficient painkiller with no side effects. Now I too get prescribed co co but very rarely take it because of feeling whoosy, lethargic and constipated and I find they do not do much for my pain either. Did take one in the middle of the night last night whilst heating up a wheat bag for the second time though as it seemed like everything was screaming at me. Usually I bear the pain, rather than take co co.

The happiest people don't have the best of everything. They just make the best of everything.

If you can lay down at night knowing in your heart that you made someone's day just a little bit better, you know you had a good day.

I started on Pregabelin and Tramadols about 12 weeks ago now and have come off Co-codomols over that period because I find that I don't need them at the mo. Do have the occasional paracetomols if I need them. When I saw Nurse at the pain clinic the other day, she said that was fine. Paracetomols are preferable to the Co-cods. I now find that I do not have the consti's any more, in fact I have gone the other way, which I am finding just as uncomfortable.
I use to prefer the Co=proxomols and use to live on them until all the diagnosis were made on my arthritis. Do miss them.
There addictive. Has anyone tried the Fibregels. They are good.
