It could be an ear infection, sounds like it to me. Lots of drugs can lower the imune system and leave us more open to infection. Glad you're seeing your GP do take some painkillers too. Hope it gets better soon.

Hi I had an ear infection, which then triggered RA in my neck. I went to the gp for more antibiotics as the ear pain hadn't gone and she said it was my neck, referred pain. They upped my steroids and it went away!

I would definitely get it checked by your doc.

    Take care

    hi,sorry you have earache.
i had an ear infection that took antibiotics(didnt work)then steriod drops(still didnt work)then steriod drops.when i went back for check up the ear infection had cleared but got told have OA in my jaw which causes the same symptoms plus headaches & migrianes(lucky me)
ive had them checked since as the earache wakes me up when i lay on either ear & its the OA,painkillers not touching it.
im back at gps tomorrow(my 2nd home)for my hands, wrists & will mention it again.
let us know how you get on.luv debsx

Hi, it does sound like an ear infection, but thats just as important to get sorted out, as it can effect balance and stuff. I've had them in the past, and felt quite 'orrible. Still, at least you'll be able to get it diagnosed properly and the right treatment from your GP!! :)
Hope you soon feel better. Love Sue

Hi, the district nurse came today to do my blood test, she did a quick examination, as I do not have a temperature and my ears inside look ok she dosen't think I have an infection, so she rung the gp who came out and referred me to casualty.

I was sent for an x-ray, waited around 2 hours, and finally got told that my jaw on the right side is very swollen, this is causing the pain in my ear, they have told my Rheumy and given me some Naproxen to tide me over love Jaspercatxx
