Smelling salts please - P60 found

Hi, I don't suppose you remember, but when I was 'retired because of ill-health' I applied for ESA and sent of my P60, as requested and had a letter refusing it as I hadn't paid enough. It turned out that they had lost the P60s and I had to send copies again.
Today, I have received 2 envolopes, one containing my lost p60 attached to a comps slip with the handwritten note saying 'p60 mislaid now found' along with a letter to say they are looking at my claim again and saying they are giving me back pay to June, which was when I claimed it and they have paid this into my bank. Funnily enough, I had been thinking over the long weekend that I should phone them again as its some time since I re-sent the copies etc. Anyway, I have a bit of money I never thought I'd see and the original P60.

Warning to all who are going to apply, if you have to send the orginals, copy them first and post with a proof of postage certifcate at the Post Office.
If I had not had a copy to copy, (if you see what I mean,) Heaven only knows what kind of poo I'd be in! Pretty deep I guess :x

Hi Sue
I'm glad your P60 has been found - I always take photocopies of original documents and get proof of posting, it's free, so you might as well.
I'm glad things are finally getting sorted, but I agree with you, if it's been a while since you sent the copies, you should probably ring again to see what's happening.
Some organisations just need chasing up to get anything done. I got into an argument with my sister's occupational therapist because she'd been waiting a year for a new shower chair and then finally she said she'd do something about it. She then rang my sister later that day to say that the new shower chair would arrive in 6 weeks. My sister said "OK, I'll tell my sister that then" to which the OT replied that they'd have one to her quicker than that, and it was delivered in a fortnight!
I don't always get stroppy but sometimes you just have to!

Sue I remember reading your original post and thinking what a shambles they seem to be making of your claim. I'm delighted to hear you've gotten a good resolution. Happy days, you should treat yourself to a little pressy.0

I'm glad they finally found your P60's. I love the benefits system. I applied for contribution-based ESA a while ago, I don't qualify for any money but life goes on...
Now the working tax credit people (which i don't qualify for either) have put £1000 in my account! When I questioned it last week I was told it was made in error and they'll take it back. I'm still waiting... My account looks v healthy for the time being but I'm going to have to ring again.
Also, they told me that I may get a letter at the end of the financial year saying that I owe them money, then I have to prove that they paid in error and have taken it back. To be honest, I've got better things to do with my time!!
I wonder if I get to keep the interest?...0 -
Hi What a Shambles  . When they first lost mine they told me that I'd have to send in pay slips as a copy wasn't good enough. I asked what they'd done with the money they took from me, put it down a black hole or something! (I was cross) No she said if they had chase it from their end, it would take a lot of time and work!!! Then they agreed to accept a copy a covering letter.!
Anyway, at least things started now.
